The Village Church Farm

About The Village Church Farm

We are Lincolnshire's only open air museum situated right in the heart of the seaside town of Skegness, but The Village is so much more than just a museum! A hidden gem of the East Coast, Church Farm Village gives a glimpse of agricultural life in days gone by. Experience life in a Victorian farmhouse, explore the thatched 'mud and stud' farm labourer's cottage, marvel at Bob the traction engine and much more! This is a family friendly museum with many things to do and see! The farmhouse at Church Farm Village was built in 1760 (making it the second oldest building in Skegness). It is furnished to the period 1900-1910 and the room settings are styled as if the inhabitants have just stepped out for a while. Outside you will find some of the original farm buildings; The cow byre, forge and workshops house many displays and reminders of time gone by. Withern Cottage is a wonderful example of a Lincolnshire "Mud and Stud" thatched cottage which was found at Withern near Louth in 1980. It was subsequently deconstructed, moved and carefully rebuilt on the museum site finally opening to visitors in August 1982. The Boothby Barn was also another local historical building which was moved and relocated on the site in keeping with the period. It now houses 'Bob' one of the Village museums most famous exhibits. Bob is a steam traction engine built by Richard Hornsby and Sons 1886 in Grantham, Lincolnshire. (T1300) 8NHP, No. 7297 It was originally sent to Tasmania and landed there on 23 Jan 1892. The buildings are all maintained and looked after by volunteer staff and a small volunteer board of directors and Trustees of the museum . Havenhouse Barn's Tearoom is our on site cafe; open to all daily and has a variety of fresh locally sourced "light bites", cakes & refreshments for you to enjoy. There is FREE parking on site including dedicated disabled spaces. Coaches are welcome (Please call in advance to advise of visits). The museum is an equal opportunities venue which
