We've got rain, sleet & snow but the fire is on and it's oh so cosy. Come and have a bowl of our new sticky toffee pud ! Or hot crispy apple pie! Fresh bag of coffee just opened from Thursday's roast...come and get some love!

Nice little review of our wholesome treats on buzzfeed. We are so proud and passionate to be Whitby's 1st and only 100% dedicated Gluten Free cafe. The minute the doors are open it's a buzz, wether from the delicious coffee that we are so proud to deliver or from the happiness of the customers to know there is no risk but that of joy, or from all the many unique characters that this place seems to pull in. Never a dull moment! We love you tremendously buzzers. Any other write ups about us pls send as we don't keep track. Did not catch the copy of Sunday Telegraphs 150th anniversary of Alice In Wonderland piece that praised our coffee and ambience, just the message passed. Still very proud to be associated. Were all mad here ! http://www.buzzfeed.com/…/things-you-ne ed-to-eat-in-whitby-…

Dearly beloveds, we are taking a short break to catch a breath from a busy summer and to move house and recollect ourselves. We have been reluctant to say it, but due to the personal engagement we have with all our guests we may as well tell you that our darling labrador Chewy has just recentely passed. Of course only the animal lovers will truly know the loss of such a companion. He had been the bonafied black face of whitby old town for 14 long & lovely years and who can say better than that. Even made his national television debut this year! We'll be back in no time ready for our favourite autumn season. Good wishes to you all :)

User

Apologies for anyone trying to come through today. Weve got a broken boiler. Right on time for busiest wknd of the year! We are going old school with pots of water on the stove but this is going to slow things down quite abit, much the scene of a carry on film! Will do our best to keep things ticking along. Thankyou everyone.

New creation - Tirimasu for the coffee lovers <3

Our new gf twist on baklava, stacked coconut crepes instead of philo pastry, crammed full of pistachio and walnuts and oozing with raw honey. Ooh! If anyone's been to The Bridge coffee bar on Kingsland Rd in shoreditch and tasted there baklava will see where the addiction comes from!

CLOSED TILL EASTER. Just to doubly confirm. We hope people come onto this page rather than tripadvisor / googlepages which keep giving incorrect opening hours information. Also stating we are a pub!?? Can fly to the moon but cant get syncronised logistics online! Working on it as much as we can. Best wishes to all.

Getting in to spring spirit. Just made here, a 100%organic raw blueberry "cheesecake" made purely of wholefood nuts, fresh blueberries, cashew butter, maple syrup, coconut oil. Each bite is actually good for you! 100% vegan, dairy, sugar free. E A T M E *

Wonderful cup of tea by the fireside, beautifully decorated place and the friendliest of people. Best of all it's animal friendly so our little ferret was welcome in by the fire which was lovely on such a cold day. Will definitely be popping in again :)

User

Visited this cafe on regatta weekend. Best hot chocolates I've ever had!! Yum yum!!

User

Only went in for a take out slice of cake but the guy who served me was so friendly and very welcoming. Firstly, (and this probably sounds crazy to non coeliacs) but it was amazing to have so much CHOICE!! It took me a few minutes to decide but I went for the Honey and Carrot Cake. It was delicious! I'm only sad about one thing, that you're only in Whitby and not Sheffield! Thanks for making me feel included and as though I wasn't "abnormal and a pain", we will be back!

User

Lovely staff, a real fire, amazing coffee, soya milk available - perfect! Will be back! Highly recommended.

Found this lovely cafe recommended by another cafe in the vicinity. So pleased as I was really hungry. Dog friendly too which was a huge bonus. Food was delicious I had quiche and lemon meringue pie. So good as you know everything is gluten free and I could relax and not worry about asking all the time, makes a huge difference. Looking forward to a revisit soon. xx Thank you for being so friendly and relaxing xxx A truly welcomed treat xx

User

Fantastic, quirky, retro cafe with delicious cakes and lovely staff.

User

Excellent selection of gluten free cakes, warm welcome from both the owners and the fire ! We will be back ! X

User

Dog friendly. Lovely staff and even better cake and coffee. We tried the bakewell & the carrot cake that was sugar free made with honey. The best cake I've EVER had.

User

Dog and human friendly independent gluten-free oasis. Everywhere else, you have to keep asking and checking the staff have understood your concerns about products being gluten-free, whereas this place came as a breath of fresh air. Everything was gluten-free so there was no risk of cross-contamination such as a regular cake knife being propped against the GF one as is so 'normal' in places where the odd GF item is available.

Thank you so much for being there, being genuinely friendly and encouraging the trend towards there being more places that really are safe for those with gluten sensitivity issues.

Cosy, beautiful, stylish and whimsical, the best reason to head straight for Church Street !

User

Brilliant place, gorgeous decor, fabulous service, beautiful atmosphere and the food was everything I dreamt it would be! Thank you for existing walrus and carpenter! !! We had a wonderful and full belly time!

Alice in Wonderland meets the Renaissance (I think that's the era I'm thinking of) meets dead nice Hot Chocolate :-)
