About The Waterside Inn, Bray

Restaurant with rooms by the Thames in Bray

The Waterside Inn, Bray Description

A legendary name, a restaurant with a unique heritage. . . and all in a sublime setting. Since 1972, diners have been flocking to the picturesque village of Bray simply to visit the Waterside Inn.

Today, under the leadership of chef-patron Alain Roux, no other British restaurant can claim to have held three Michelin stars for so long. And, as part of the Relais & Chateaux global fellowship of individually owned and operated luxury hotels and restaurants, the Waterside can boast not only two Relais Gourmand chefs but also the only UK member of the Relais Dessert Association.

What a great photo taken at The Waterside Inn golf day at Camberley Golf Club today. Pit stop at the 12th tee for Jolly Hogs and Laurent-Perrier champagne. This is the life!

We would like to announce that after 30 years service at The Waterside Inn Diego Masciaga did his last service on the floor of the dining room on Sunday 3rd June. He leaves to persue his passion for motivational speaking of the next generation entering the hospitality profession as well as consultancy. We wish him all the best. He leaves a legacy of excellency in service of the guests which we hope to emulate each and every day.

A rare chance to watch Alain Roux and Michel Roux Jr demonstrating the dish set for the final of this year's Roux Scholarship. They make it look so easy!

The Waterside Inn Dinner & Dance takes place twice a year and is always a very popular evening. The event is black tie for gentlemen and cocktail dresses for ladies. The evening commences with a champagne reception, followed by a four course dinner with matching wines and dancing to the Oliver Twist band, a four piece ensemble with a vast repertoire at their finger tips. The price per person will be £375.00 inclusive of service and VAT. To book your table please call 01628 620691 to speak with our reservations team.

That was a truly stunning tour de force of flowers by Paul Hawkins last Friday. The room looked and smelt fabulous.

What can I say about this amazing restaurant!

From the moment we arrived... the service from all the staff was impeccable. Warm, friendly, efficient... we never had to ask for anything. The anticipation from the staff was exemplary!

And the food!!! Best birthday lunch ever... thank you so much to my lovely husband for this special birthday treat!! And... I had a little slice of birthday cake as well!

I will definitely be going again and can’t recommend it enough to everyone!!

We've been lucky enough to eat here on a number of occasions and the food and service is always outstanding.Even a simple starter of pea soup is taken to another level with addition of the ham hock and poached pheasants egg! Can't wait for the new brassiere restaurant to open in Maidenhead later this year.

User

We went to the Waterside Inn for a birthday treat, the whole experience was amazing. The staff were really helpful and friendly, the food was the best meal I have ever eaten with drinks after the meal next to the river! Also met Alain who came out to the restaurant after service and is lovely. Will definitely be going again, fabulous!

We went for a birthday meal as a special treat and it was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was lovely, no music and nobody was on their phones so you could just hear people chatting to each other.

As for the food - just exquisite. We had the tasting menu and asked to swap the foie gras for lobster which was no problem at all. The chef rearranged the order of our menu to accommodate this so that the stronger tasting lobster wouldn't over power the dish after it, and the staff even printed us out two new menus to reflect what we were having (without us even asking for it).

Every dish was amazing, the depth of flavour and the beautiful presentation, coupled with the absolutely well oiled machine in terms of both the 25 chefs and all the front of house staff, made it such a wonderful, memorable evening.

We stayed in one of the rooms which was also lovely, clean and comfortable with everything we needed readily at hand.

Absolutely 5* all the way.

We stayed Saturday 10th January 2018 and we had the best of times !

Everything from the food, accommodation and especially the Waterside Inn Team was the absolute best - Never mind 3 Michelin Stars ? It’s definitely 5 Stars from us - Thank you

We ate at the restaurant twice in 1985 and 1986. One of our fondest memories now. I can no longer recall the menu, but I vividly recall the arabic enclosure by the water where we enjoyed our desert and brandy and I enjoyed my cigar.

User

WOW!!! Totally amazing!!! Excellent First Class attentive service, stunning surroundings, outstanding food and wine list, and as a bonus an absolute pleasure to meet Alain himself, what a charming gentleman he is!! A wonderful experience and an extended celebration of our engagement, thank you to Alain and his amazing team 🎉🥂

One of the best meals we have had to date. We have eaten at other 1, 2 and 3 Michellin Star restaurants and this one really does stand out from the rest. Not only is the food exquisite. But the service is impeccable and the staff so welcoming. The atmosphere is what surprised me the most, it was bustling, lots of people laughing, chatting and generally really enjoying themselves (something that can be hard to come by in these types of restaurants). I would 100% recommend trying their taster menu. It was well served (not rushed at all with a variation of smaller and larger dishes) and I believe value for money. The fact service charge is included is a really positive (and a rarity) for a restaurant of this kind.

We would love to return in the future.

P.s for the dog lovers out there, they also sell hand made treats for your pooch (mine goes crazy for them!) and again at a brilliant price!

User

I felt privileged to eat at this restaurant the service, food was better than excellent nothing was to much for the dtaffa couple of us wanted smoked salmon to start which was not on the menu but that was fine when the restaurant got a bit quieter The chef Mr Roux came out to say hello to every table. Cannot wait to go again really takes a lot of beating

User

Food was amazing, tried the taster menu and we came away feeling pleasantly full. Amazing flavours, very fresh. The staff were very polite and accomodating, would definitely love to go back.

User

Food fit for Royalties, service impeccable and personal attention from The Men: Mr Roux & son - make you feel like you’re their guest. Great atmosphere with attention to every single detail, ... my venison still virtually melts in my mouth. If money is not a restriction be ready to see the shine of all those Michelin stars . Great place, highly recommend it.

User

Fabulous evening with my daughter Nicki. Exquisite food with the most attentive service made it a most memorable experience. Everyone was so friendly and professional. Thank you all so very much. It was the attention to every little detail of our stay that made our visit so perfect in every way.

User

Excellent food, impeccable service and a wonderful location. Made even better by meeting Alain after his service, what a thoroughly nice gentleman. Will definitely be back!

User

Birthday eve dinner degustation was fantastic with a selection of all the best dishes and wines to match. The staff were all friendly and helpful, very relaxing atmosphere watching the sun go down while zipping champagne on the Thames.

User

Amazing from start to finish, the food, the staff, second to none! The highlight taking my son into the kitchen to make his own dessert - an experience he will never forget! Thank you so much

User

Always an amazing treat. The flavours and imagination that are manifested in the food are just extraordinary. The service first class.

User

Absolutely brilliant Anniversary treat over the Easter weekend!

Fantastic team delivering perfect service throughout, beautiful restaurant with wonderful rooms and a fabulous taster menu - especially loved the Pigeon dish!

The breakfast the next morning was also truly delicious, with freshly made pastries and a fab Hot Chocolate

Could not recommend this place enough!

I have never been Bray Wow Wow what beautiful place expensive houses 🏠 there! If I say so myself!!

I only found about The Waterside Inn in Bray coz I follow someone on Instagram they went there for lunch don’t know this person on Instagram that well thou!!!

I turned up there on Saturday {23} late afternoon on route from Ascot Procession at Windsor Great 👍 Park!!

Drove down country lane dead end, my friend said Park this car park but waiter who was dealing with this very posh well heeled lady & husband said park on the courtyard which I did!!

Anyway he said that’s private car park mind you lots confuses we park opposite the pub I guess I should’ve asked him do need to book at the restaurant in advance

Instead strolled in the restaurant told uncertain way fully booked, asked another staff member he said book online

For a weekday *month in advance!*

For a weekend *3 months in advance*!

Did look at the menu before I left not really into Al-Carte

Do not go to many Michelin Start 🌟 restaurants that often

Coz I am fussy eat only will have fish 🐟 nothing else

Sure it will be very pricey won’t have alcohol coz teetotaller anyway so that will save some money

Hope make a booking soon go next month it will be nice 👍 experience if only I go there the once!!

Oh yes that waiter/ staff were okay

When I arrived thou there was Rolls Royce!! Parked outside I think that couple who the waiter was speaking to owned that car!!!
