We have stayed at Thornside Cottage which is adjacent to the Wheel Inn and owned by Sue and Nick. We have had two meals so far and have thoroughly enjoyed both equally. Large portions, the haddock is very good and a must have, also the mixed grill. Very friendly locals and Sue is very accommodating and approachable. Highly recommended.

Would advise to take open sign in as we stopped because it said open waste of time

A cracking wee pub. Lovely food, lovely beer, lovely atmosphere - well worth a visit. Do yourself a favour and have a few days away from it all, book the cottage, enjoy the local area, kick back and relax with a nice meal and couple of pints in the evening - can't beat it!!! 😎.

I want to add to my original review - the Haddock & Chips is to die for. My wife said she'd had enough chips, so Sue suggested she have Haddock & Salad - wow, what a winner, don't know why it's not on the menu?? to say it was awesome is an understatement!! If you visit, you've got a real dilemma LOL

I think The Wheel Inn pub has completely turned itself around. Now run under new management since August 2015, I am extremely impressed with the new menus and service from behind the bar. I must praise the Sunday lunches as they are absolutely fantastic and always come out piping hot, served with sides and gravy. The chefs apple pie and custard is my absolute favourite, I always ask for a portion regardless of how full I am after my meal - it's THAT good.

The quality of the food itself is splendid and is a perfect pub to sit in on a cold winter night, eating the grub next to the log fire. I've also had the chance to stay inside the Holiday Cottage and I am very impressed.

Inside the cottage was not what I imagined at all. It resembles a house with a double bed, ensuite and a lounge, kitchen and dining area. I stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was perfect for a relaxing weekend break away. It’s good to know the holiday cottage also has free wifi. I would 100% recommend visit The Wheel, and the owners will really look after you. Make sure to try the steak from the pub also, one of the best I’ve had in ages!

Excellent food everytime. My family go regularly for their 'Pie Night' and we cannot recommend it enough. Pies are homemade and are full of meat and good value for money. Sunday lunch is excellent too.

My girlfriend and I decided to book in for a meal at The Wheel Inn on a Saturday night and we rated the pub very highly. We were staying over in the cottage opposite the pub on a weekend break and we didn't fancy cooking a meal ourselves, so we opted for some food and beers over there instead. We were very impressed with the high standard of service and we were quickly seated at a quiet little table and were given a menu to look at. We ordered some drinks which came over to our table in great time and I ordered the fish and chips off the menu. I was told by the chef that the fish was freshly caught that day in neighbouring Grimsby and you could taste the freshness. My girlfriend ordered a medium rare steak which was cooked to perfection accompanied by chunky chips. Both meals came out piping hot and it's fair to say you definitely receive generous portions! The Wheel Inn is a great little pub which I would highly recommend a visit.
