User

We were pleasantly surprised at the food we had. 2 for 1 pizza ÔŅĹ very yummy and very reasonable priced, the offer is from 3 to 7pm from Monday to Friday. Our bill was only ¬£14. 50 and that included drinks ÔŅĹ!!! Very nice there, lovely decor and very friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.

User

Visited for the first time since the relaunch yesterday for some lunch with a business associate and was very impressed with the new decor: A much lighter and airier feel to the place.

All the staff were friendly and courteous, the food was lovely, didn't take too long to arrive, and the portion sizes reasonable.

We sat outside in the rear courtyard decked area, and were grateful for the shade provided by the large parasol as those in the direct sunlight were starting to look rather hot, pink and sweaty as they enjoyed their food and drinks!

Prices were also reasonable and we will definitely be back again!

User

Just stopped here on way to London (although has been here years ago when I lived in Surrey). High standard of food, friendly service & despite it being very bit’s, we were served a timely manner. Thanks!

User

Had a great wonderful lunch with great friends. Food was of excellent quality and very reasonably priced. It was the second time I had visited and the food on both occasions was outstanding. Charlotte and Penny were our waitresses for this particular visit and nothing was too much trouble for them. The venue decor was very tasteful and all areas were incredibly clean. Wish it was closer to home!!! We will definitely be returning again very soon.

User

Had a fabulous evening at the opening night party, drinks were fab, food was fab and fabulous staff, Selina and Carol are already my favourites after 2 visits, so attentive, couldn’t ask for more. Well done all involved x

User

Great to see the grade listed building taken over and done a fantastic job doing it up. Beer garden great too.

Staff need a lot more training, service pretty poor. Food wise, tasty but my pork belly not cooked long enough and our food was served in a bowl all mixed up. Prefer a plate. Kids had the pizzas and they were great.

User

Attended yesterday lunchtime with my wife. What a pleasant surprise!

Somewhat embarrassingly, while we knew the pub had recently reopened following refurbishment, we hadn't realised till we got there that it had changed hands from the Beefeater chain!

We decided to go in anyway, and very glad we did! Food was amazing, service was great. The interior decor has been very subtly altered, creating a classy yet welcoming country pub feel.

Definitely coming back!

User

went there yesterday the patio area is lovely very cosmopolitan and contemporary. Excellent service from the staff.

ordered fish and chips and hake both were superb dishes.

very dog friendly a water bowl for every table.

looking forward to going back soon 4*

User

looking forward to trying the pizza the steak sandwich for an impromptu lunch in the courtyard was excellent. This is a lovely pub in a lovely setting and building I'm certain it will take time for them to get fully up to speed and hope the locals will give them time to refine their offering which is sorely needed in godstone

User

It was my birthday and we had nine people and they gave us a lovely private room for us all. We also sat outside for pre drinks in the sun ūüėé service was good especially Steve who we thought looked like bear grills ūüėā

User

An an amazing transformation. Really enjoyed the the food and the staff were lovely. A couple of teething problems but that was the purpose of these preview evenings. I would definitely go again and can’t wait for the warm weather to use the new al fresco eating area. Well done to everyone in the team.

User

We had a table booked for dinner last night. We were ten minutes late but when we arrived we were greeted with ‚Äė oh we nearly gave your table away, I was just about to call you‚Äô not the best first impression, although we were in the wrong!

The inexperienced waitresses tried but were slow to bring drinks, our wine didn’t arrive until after we’d eaten our starters, despite asking three times for it. When it did come it was just left on the table.

The steaks were ok but the chips were greasy and lacked crispness. My meal was sadly very average. It was supposed to have roasted cauliflower however I couldn’t taste any in the dish. When I queried it I was told, it was in a crumb that was sprinkled on the pasta. I was given a dish with the crumb in it, which to my mind was fried breadcrumbs and parsley.

The bill was adjusted and the manager was very apologetic. Hopefully they are experiencing teething problems which they need to address. The building has been rescued from the Beefeater’s neglect, internally it has been very nicely done and the outside space is a real bonus. We will be returning but after a few weeks to give the staff a chance to improve.

User

We booked a table for 4 adults, taking advantage of the 50% off trial night. First impression on patio area was lovely & will be great when we get the summer weather, the decor & layout inside is very nice, cosy & welcoming. The manager on duty that night was very pleasant. We were showed to our table, which was by the toilets, problem here is you can hear the hand dryer going when people use the conviences. The waitress was very lovely & friendly. We ordered our starters which all 4 were amazing, the sausage roll, mackeral on toast & salad we had was fab. The mains we had 2 x beer chicken, were only luke warm, mentioned this & said she would mention to chef, other 2 meals were ok. Desserts very disappointing, pancetta not set properly, choc brownie very dry, lemon meringue was hard and hardly any lemon, and shop bought meringue. We had shinny tables, no place Matts & was chasing the plates around the table. Our main issue was the gluten free diet menu, it came out on 4 sheets of A4 paper with all other allergies on it, not easy to read & print was tiny. We spoke to manager at the end of the evening regarding this, & our friend will not return because of this, as you need confident staff acknowledging the seriousness of allergies to food, he said he could tick what was gluten free on the menu, but I mentioned that all the staff need to know too. Seating by the toilets area the ceilings are very low & the chap opposite us banged his head, so if you 6ft don't request a table there. Service was good. Will give them the benefit of the doubt & return to try again, and hopefully our comments will be improved & corrected

User

Second time in as many weeks. Food average at best. Childrens starter vegetables were awful and sent back. Initial service very slow, had to ask for menus at every stage. Orders for mains incorrect too so why the server insisted on relying on memory rather than writing it down amused me. This has been repeated both visits.

Looked around and noticed quite a few other tables discussing "issues" too.

Food overpriced for the quality, and if honest, the Beefeater was better.

Needs to improve before the newness factor disappears or they will be in trouble. Only the fact that its in walking distance would I ever consider eating there again.

User

Unfortunately I cannot agree with the other reviews following my visit today with my family. Taking advantage of the 50% off the food bill I requested a table for 1.30pm and was allocated a table for 2.30pm, not a problem. The four of us arrived at 2.20pm to be told our table wasn’t yet available as they had walk ins, yes we were early but you would expect a booked table to ready at the booked time, not 15 minutes later especially if they were trying to make a good impression.

We were taken through and settled at the table by who I can only assume was restaurant duty manager, who was very pleasant. Only one guest wanted a starter, and we had four main courses. I am basing this review on my own meal, which was a roast chicken dinner, the chicken and roast potatoes were hot but the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding was barely warm, the stuffing was missing but I did have a hair amongst the carrots! We were all very disappointed with our meals, when discussing it together the starter was only warm and none of the other three mains were over warm too.

We brought the problems to the waitress attention who put it in the hands of the manager, who made a further amendment to the bill, but first impressions count and we left with no intention of returning. To be honest I could of got an equivalent roast dinner in a cravery, but with more meat for half the price! The staff needed to be prompted extra drinks had been ordered, and I personally didn’t think the staff looked particularly smart, blouses with white tshirt underneath them with an expanse hanging down, skinny jeans and converse pumps!

The refit of the restaurant has been tastefully done, the outside area is a great improvement.

User

The atmosphere and surroundings are pretty good though I can’t see the point of making a lovely garden area out the back and nobody water the plants throughout the summer as they’re all dead. The food you pay normal restaurant prices though I do feel you can go somewhere else and get a much better meal. I’ve been a few times now and it’s just pretty average at best.

User

Booked a table to celebrate our daughter‚Äôs graduation and sadly the Burger my husband ordered had a very odd taste and was ‚Äėsticky‚Äô as if it had been thawed out and quickly reheated. It was stuck to the bun and tasted very bland. We raised this with our waitress, who said she would share our concern with the chef.....no-one came to see us or offer any explanation for this poor quality food. It dampened our evening to be honest as the staters were good and the newly renovated restaurant was lovely. We paid the bill and left with no apology. Won‚Äôt be going back in a hurry.

User

A bit disappointed.

Service was ok but they forgot the water. Starters were good. My chocolate brownie was delicious but the mains were unexciting and way too big. Too much food on your plate. Probably won’t go back based on yesterday’s experience.
