Nice village pub with good food
We thoroughly enjoy our meal. The service was excellent and the food tasty.
Local pub recently re done. While the pub is in a great setting and the beer is tasty. The menu is as pretentious as the crowd and the service severely lacking.
Food was well prepared but the offerings were minuscule - their "68 day aged steak" consisted of two tiny strips of steak (they assured me it was 4oz!) a blob of celeriac, a blob of something that looked like watery mash potato, some small strips of cabbage with dark gravy splashed around the huge plate. The actual meal looked totally lost on the plate and would have fitted onto a small side plate with plenty of space to spare. I was told it wasn't the size but the flavour that was important. I had come for a meal not a tasting!
I chanced a dessert and had their treacle tart with honey combe (sic) which consisted of a half inch wide strip of treacle tart that was around 4inches long and an inch high. This had some small pieces of honeycomb sprinkled on and an "e" added to the name to allow them to double the price!
With a diet coke and a decaffeinated coffee the bill came to £29!
Luckily there is a Kentucky Fried Chicken at Martlesham which I managed to get a 3 piece meal (including diet coke) for £4.99.
Excellent food in a beautiful historic pub. Menu a little limited but there is enough choice.
Great pub, recently refurbished and has been made to look very modern and trendy. Great selection of food and drinks on offer.
This is a lovely village pub, offering great food, friendly atmosphere and is beautifully furnished, and kept in pristine condition, without losing any of its heritage. Lovely inside and out.
