We've got the White Horse's 'Big Weekend' Beer & music fest coming up this Bank Holiday weekend. We've got something for everyone - from Face painting for the kids (Throughout the day up until 6PM). As well as a Magician - Clown extraordinaire, that's for the big kid in all of us.
They'll be doing the rounds between 3PM - 5PM Saturday, as well as 2PM - 4PM on the Sunday. Then...
... Something for the grown ups in the evening - we've got quality beer on tap, live music with the wonderfully talented 'Jo Kelsey' gracing our bar from 6PM on Saturday Night & something a bit smoother on Sunday night with the 'Sunday Soul Lounge' after 6PM.
A perfect weekend to see of those post-V festival blues - with great beer, wine, company & events for the whole family and something for the older ones in the evening.
We'll be posting more details as they become available - get sharing & liking so your friends don't miss out this bank Holiday weekend.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Fascinating Fact Friday's ARE BACK!
Check out this latest interesting point - it'll really make you think next time you're on a crowded bus/train for the morning commute:
... 'In the last 200 years the population of our planet has grown exponentially, at a rate of 1.9% per year. If it continued at this rate, with the population doubling every 40 years, by 2600 we would all be standing literally shoulder to shoulder.'
Wow! and we thought a busy friday night was bad at the pub, eh?!
We look forward to welcoming you all - enjoy your weekend.

Really impressed, good sized pub, very nicely decorated, food was good, pleasant happy service & really good value

User

I had my birthday celebrations here the weekend before Christmas and I have to say it was fab. Lovely venue, gorgeous food and very attentive and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend it. Thank you so much to everybody at the White Horse

User

Had a mixed Grill and my daughter had steak Cooked perfect Rare and blue told may be a delay!! But if it's good it's worth the wait!! Ta to the young lady behind the bar Stacy she is a star

User

Lovely pub. Accommodated us a party of nine including kids at short notice. Good food, good service, one of the best pubs in the area with a great atmosphere.

User

Had Sunday lunch - huge plate of food and yummy treacle sponge - good value but food could have been hotter! Good service, friendly staff and the facelift has made the pub lighter and more up to date!

User

Good food when it's available unfortunately the last couple of times we have been a few things have been off the menu . This is such a shame as it's really good

User

Calm and clean place to work and study. Food takes a little too long sometimes but they often offer a drink on the house for you to sip pn while you wait. Kind and helpful staff. Reasonable prices

User

Yesterday meal was not as good as I have had before, the starter was nachos which too be honest are hard to get wrong, the mains where the let down my friend had Scampi and found it not too be very hot and left most of her chips as they where cold, I went for the Lasagne which came with Salad, I was disappointed with the Lasagne thought it lack in taste and didn't look the most appetizing it had been put under a grill to melt the cheese but maybe too long, serving salad on a warm plate is not the best idea the lettuce was wilting and cucumber & tomato's where warm which is not nice, we order desert and I had to change mine after I had order it as the chef inform front of house they were out of stock of my original choice something I always feel they should know, I chose a mini desert and coffee and was given a normal size dessert and coffee as way of an apology which was a nice touch, as I said I have had better meals here hopefully this was a one off

User

Prawn cocktail starter had toasted white bread instead of non toasted granary, and no butter. Loads of prawns but sauce was a bit dull. Belly pork with chorizo was massive and on the whole nice, not sure the jous was anything more than gravy and couldn't work out why the chorizo was even there. Both brownie and apple pie desserts were lovely, just a shame they brought them out as we were putting down the cutlery from our mains, they hadn't even cleared our plates away. On the whole an ok meal and reasonable value but with just a little effort could have been so much better.

User

If I was the manager I would be thanking Chloe in a big way as she was at times the only one behind the bar keeping the ship afloat and making sure the customers were kept happy.

User

Friendly staff, food ok, would have been nice if it all arrived at the same time, but they work out that they'd over charged us and refunded us, beer is good 😊

User

We thought we would try it again after its recent facelift and went there tonight for a meal as a family. We got there before 7 to ensure getting a table and my husband joined us just after 7. We ordered our food straight away, realising it was getting busier and there would be a delay (although we were not told this directly, i overheard a member of staff saying it to another customer). We waited over half an hour for our starter and then a further god knows how long for our main after that. Our desserts were again delayed, although we understand an effort was made to speed them up. We finished our meal just gone 9.30. As my husband went to the bar to settle the bill, a member of staff came over to the table to let me know they only allow children in up to 9.30pm. I was incredulous and informed the member of staff I could not believe they had seriously come over to let me know this, since the only reason we were still there was the fact food service had been so incredibly slow! Utter insult! Not only this, I went to the bar as we were leaving to have a word with the manager only to find out it had been her that had come to the table to let me know about their children's policy! Needless to say I did not bother having that word. So incredibly short sighted! We sincerely had hoped things would improve with the refurbishment in that pub. All that waiting time, we did not complain once in the knowledge teething problems happen sometimes - guess we should have done!

Manager's name I was given is Amy O'Driscoll by the way - she could definitely do with some training!

Utterly disappointed! And angry quite frankly.

User

The food is pretty dull. And misleading on the menu. Ordered the hand carved ham only for it to be reconstituted meat and not real ham as advertised. Tried to explain it to the manager but they insisted I was wrong. My dad's a butcher, I know what hand carved ham is.

User

It needs thousands spent on it before it falls down. Sad to see such a lovely pub get in such a state! Brewery (Ember Inns) please re invest some money. You have stiff competition now with the other two pubs in Great Baddow that have had major refurbs. Shame to say but The White Horse is now the worst.

User

After having a bit of laugh with my family and my fiancé's family

We ordered a meal for 8 which took over 40 minutes so we went to check how long the food would and was talked too very rudely by waiter/manager whilst we were eating my mum noticed her new potatoes had gone rotten and Scott was more then happy to argue with my mum to the point my dad got angry and told him to go away

User

So disappointing! We phoned in advance thinking as it’s Easter it may have been busy to be told, no come over we’l get you a table ready. Great we thought! On arrival, no table ready but hastily 2 tables thrown together, unfortunately even tho recently renovated the tables were wobbling all

over the place so we had to move. We ordered at 5.05pm and it arrived at 5.55pm a very long wait considering it was less than half full in the restaurant. The manager apologised and said he would speak to us when the meals was finished. Out of the 5 meals ordered - all were luke warm! The steak with the mixed grill was inedible so was cut up for our dog. The pasta was cold round the edge of the bowl and was dry. The chips were dry and over cooked as well as cold. We are just so disappointed! We came here a lot before it was renovated as it is just across the road to us and all our neighbours frequent here. As we were leaving the manager saw us and didn’t say a word, all we can say is they had every opportunity to correct things and they didn’t. Very bad customer service and we won’t be hurrying back

User

Manager is rude as fuck, and talks to his staff like crap infront of customers.

User

I have eaten here a lot over the last few years and each time I go the food is worse. During the summer I sat outside to eat and was told that they have to bring out the starter and main at the same time and that had always been the rule. That had never happened before and the friends I was dining with totally agreed as they live in Baddow and eat there regularly. I ate there yesterday ( 25th October ) and ordered the nachos. They were virtually cold and the cheese was just a congealed lump in the middle. My friend ordered the ham egg and chips. The ham was just out of a packet , not hand calved as stated on the menu. Such a shame. Used to be a great place to eat !!

User

Awful. Went there for a family meal and they decided to bring my dads steak out and after 10 minutes passed I decided to complain and say that we came here to eat altogether. The waitress came over to say ours would be another 15 minutes so I told her to take his back and cook him a new one for when it came out with ours. 15 minutes later they bring a new meal out and two others, me and my boyfriend still waiting on ours. By the time that my family had nearly finished their meals ours came out. The food was actually nice but the timing and service was disgusting. You don't expect to go out for a family meal and all be eating separately. Not only that we had no apology and only got told 'I will just go check' every time. Would not be going back!!
