Spent the night in this place and would not recommend this hotel to any one.
THIS PLACE WOULD BENEFIT FROM THE FEMALE TOUCH!!!
The photos must have been taken when it was first re-furbished which must have been some time ago as the whole place is dirty.
On arrival to check in I suspected that I had booked a dodgy hotel as the breakfast/ bar area was dingy with scuff marks to the walls and skirting boards, quite badly!!
There were several young guys loitering around the reception upon check-in which did not present a professional image of the staff.
We were guided to our room in their 'sister accommodation' round the back and although we had taken our dog with us I did expect a higher level of cleanliness and overall presentation. The stair carpet to our room was dirty as was the carpet in our room. I had to clean the toilet myself. The walls and parts of the skirting boards of the bathroom were covered in black mould and the walls around the toilet had splash marks up them. whether this was urine or water who knows but the house keeping at this hotel is dire!!! The sink is slightly blocked so when running the tap it backs up. Although there was no shower gel or shampoo supplied I think as a dare minimum hand wash should be.
Our room, No 2, Had cob webs on most of the walls and the was squashed spider/ insects on the walls too along with scuff and stain marks.
The leather settee was ripped and the overall image was one that you might see in a seedy motel room depicted in the movies.
On the bright side it is very central with clean bedding and towels. We had a peaceful nights sleep and the breakfast was good.

Terrible accommodation. Checked in and staff didn't know what they were doing, right from stepping through the door I realised I'd booked a bad one!! The cleaner said she would let us have a room in the other building,, we should have felt grateful as I think the rooms above the accommodation must be a lot worse. We were taken to a room that was how the previous guests had left it, told us we can leave our bags in it and the cleaner would come and make the room up!! We said we would take our bags back to the car and return later. The car park nearby only allows you to buy a 3 day ticket at £15 as it won't let you pay for one day.....
The room smelt damp and not surprised as the building is in a terrible condition with no downspouts and walls terribly damp....the hallways and paintwork are filthy...the bedding and towels were clean though.
The breakfast was ok. The man serving it was rude and had no people skills whatsoever...
Stayed in bowness lots of times and would never stay there again, I'd rather camp. Such a shame as it's in a fantastic spot. Was a gorgeous sunny morning and they have the facilities to serve it outside but a man asked if he could sit outside and was told No!!!!!!
Very strange man. Such a terrible waste of a potentially gorgeous place. It needs attention and some normal staff.

Terrible hotel. No hot water first morning, our bookings were not available despite calling to confirm weeks in advance, massive rotting leak outside room causing room to stink of damp, poor fittings, badly taken care of and needing urgent refurbishing. Towels and bedclothes clean, and staff friendly and pleasant.

Avoid. This is awful.

The wall outside our room was mouldy and stank of damp. Picture says it all.

No hot water in the morning. Shower leaks.

Rooms are above a really depressing bar. Feels more like staff quarters.

Breakfast is basically a cheap fry up.

To their credit, the room was clean inside. Bed and towels were fine. So if you just want to crash it's passable but this is not a place for a nice weekend.

Visited Easter Sunday with the family for a spot of lunch. Bowness was ram packed and with the kids flailing we need to find somewhere soon. The White House was empty and we had to ask if they were actually open. Normally the alarm bells would start ringing at this point but with other pubs and cafes full, we thought that we should give it a go. Despite the table we sat at being dirty and the fact we had to ask for it to be cleaned along with the front door being left open and it not being that warm, the food was actually quite tasty. The kids had sausage and chips with the sausages being butchers quality. My wife had the homemade burger which was well presented. I had the steak and ale pie, again well presented. With better lighting, organised staff and a little more care and attention, this place could be so much better.
