Was OK for a quick pub lunch but customer service was very poor ...

We stayed in the Loft apartment which is a good size for a break. There is a leisure pool on site with sauna and steam room. Kirby Lonsdale is just a short drive away with some good shops and walking paths. Places of interest include Devil's Bridge and Ruskin's View.

Bar staff bloody minded and petty, bed rock hard, I'm writing this at 03:30 because I can't sleep lay on bed any longer, there is mold in bathroom. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The Whoop Hall Hotel.
When we arrived the hotel looked very impressive. We were greeted by a young man who explained to us how to get to our room and handed us the key. The room was ok, a good size but tired. A pillow case came open to show a dirty grey pillow. I did not mention this to my wife as she had brought her own pillow. (This is something to consider)
I asked the barman for a pint, He gave the impression he was doing me a favour, and his attitude never changed from then on. I can only discribe him as ignorant. The evening meal was passable apart from not getting what I had orderd for each coarse. The chap on another table was getting my order and I was being served his. This went on for all three coarse which caused a laugh. My wife said it was like a scene from Faulty Towers.
The breakfast had a good choice, and very presentable it's a pity they were all very cold.
We came on a Groupon Break. Maybe we would have had better service had we paid the full rate. there again maybe not due to the ignorant owner skitting about most of us were on a Groupon Break !

The Whoop Hall Inn was a most prestigious place but sadly is on the decline. The reviews have called the place “tired”; it has seen better days despite its prime position. It probably now relies on heavily discounted voucher deals. My relatives were on such a two night deal and we called upon them on Sunday night on our way home. As the night progressed at the Inn I enquired about the cost of a room for that night as my wife and I considered staying. I spoke a late/middle aged man, grey haired and a slight height, he was heavily accented which made conversing with him challenging. He was clearly the boss. Eating a full meal standing at the bar whilst trying to discuss room prices and serving behind the bar is an interesting way he has of conducting business. He said the room was £95 and I asked if there would be a discount due to the lateness of the booking… this clearly upset him and he said something unintelligible. The matter was not further discussed and I said that I would “give it a miss”. A short while later I returned to the bar with my male relative to order food. This “boss” then verbally criticised my relative, a male 6 feet plus in height!, he asked why he had asked the barman about menus when he said he had already told him, “I told you 6 times but you still went behind my back”, were his words. In my presence he then said to him, indicating me “and he wants a room for £55, he’s a ..…ing joke”. Other customers were present and I took him to task over his foul language. He was slight conciliatory at this point. Had my relatives not been staying I would have left. However we had a meal which was of acceptable quality and served by a very pleasant and efficient Portuguese young man. The Whoop Hall Inn has clearly seen better days and the owners may wish to consider if the road to recovery lies with the premises being managed in the current manner. I shall not be returning and would pass on advice to anyone who asks. I would urge anyone considering a visit to read other comments before making a final decision. Should anyone consider booking a large event then I strongly advise an informal “incognito” visit beforehand and then make up your own mind.

Arrived just before 2pm, the room was ready for us. The staff at reception were very welcoming and friendly. Explained various things that were included in our two night stay. Used the shower but it broke, reported this and we were not only offered a new room but also an upgrade without us. having to ask. Evening meal was lovely although meat free options limited. Had breakfast which was a buffet style. Excellent selection and decent quality. Used the swimming pool and facility's even took part in the aqua aerobics which was surprisingly fun. Had afternoon cream tea which was okay but nothing exceptional. Staff couldn't be better. Would recommend this to people wanting to stay in the area
