The Wild Boar

The rooms are pleasant and the service friendly, however the best reason to visit the Wild Boar Hotel is the food. They have their own smokehouse and the meat in particular is a real treat. I've visited a number of times over the last couple of years and the wonderful food has never disappointed. I've usually got a deal and end up paying around £200 for dinner, bed and breakfast for two people. Highly recommended.

Amazing smoked meats with truly friendly and helpful staff in the lake district. We visited the restaurant and although it was fully booked the manager help us find a table by the fire in the bar. The food was delicious and our waiter Alejandro was really attentive and helpful throughout the whole meal. Will strongly recommend!

Hotel, Bar, Restaurant, Brewery, Nature Reserve. The Wild Boar has it all! The rooms are fantastic, the bar is incredibly cosy and full of charm with their own ales brewed on site being served. There is also a smokehouse providing smoked meats for the amazing restaurant and to top it off there's a large area of land full of deer and wildlife leading up to a beautiful tarn. Absolutely amazing place.

Weekend wedding at a lovely country hotel in a rural setting. All the rooms are decorated beautifully, beds are super comfy and excellent amenities. Nice in-room tea/coffee selection, lovely White Company bath products and the food is AMAZING. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location but we didn't get a chance to eat there after making a deliberate journey to the place. They said they were booked up fully for the next 4 nights for dinner even though we visited during school term time on a Thursday. The place also didn't smell too great in my opinion.

Room was comfortable, but the dinner food was sub par, and the service was slow an un attentive

Went to the Wild boar for what we hoped would be a special meal, it wasn't, the smoked steak was too smokey flavoured on the outside, the medium rare steak was rare, and one of our parties porklion on the bone was uncooked. It was sent back but this was difficult to achieve as the service was not to attentive. We won't be returning.

Visited for a meal. The staff were so polite and helpful, really made to feel welcome. The service they provided from start to finish was excellent. The choice of food was great at a reasonable price. The food was absolutely delicious and presented in a lovely way. We will definitely be visiting again for food and drinks.
