The William Bray Description
Welcome to The William Bray
Welcome to The William Bray, a recently renovated, contemporary British bar and restaurant in the heart of Shere, one of Surrey’s prettiest villages, situated just off the A25 between Dorking and Guildford.
Named after the C18th. Lord of the Manor of Shere, we are committed to offering only great quality, locally-sourced, seasonal food and drink whenever possible (you could walk to quite a few of our suppliers from the bar).
We are open between 11am and 11pm every day of the week, offering classic and modern British cooking in a modern setting with a traditional bar, attractive garden and terrace overlooking the village. We have ample parking for cars, bicycles and horses. Children and dogs very welcome.

If you havent tried the Bray, you should while you can still get a table!!
Food is fantastic! Staff are amazing and very accommodating. Cocktails are totally fantastic thanks to the lovely Laurie (apologies if I've spelt incorrectly) - can't recommend this pub enough! My absolute favourite local ☺️
Fantastic pub , staff were so friendly and the fillet steals were outstanding -we will definitely be back

Amazing little pub fantastic food in a lovely little village
After a beautiful walk in stunning countryside we had our lunch at the William Bray. Great surroundings, very tasty food and a warm friendly atmosphere… thank you, we will be back!
Lovely setting , staff were great, food delicious, highly recommend
Had a lovely lunch here today - I had the Bray burger and my other half had the duck. Pudding was spectacular - chocolate fondant with berry sorbet. We hadn't booked but staff made a real effort to get us a table which was really appreciated. Only downside was service was a bit slow (not that we were in a rush) and they forgot my husband's dessert so I thought the 12.5% service charge was a bit steep. Minor thing though and would recommend - great meal, thank you!
Had a great lunch here, not cheap but great value for money!!
A little treasure we stumbled upon & will return again - Fabulous!!
Lovely food but service was appalling. Waited 15 minutes to be served was not asked if we wanted a carafe of water in this heat! There was one on all the other tables. Had to ask for conditments and mustard again not offered. No usual enquiry of how is you meal? Having waited a further 15 minutes for the dessert menu gave up when after a further twenty minutes no one returned to take our order so gave up. To add insult to injury found the waitress having a chat with customer/friends!
