What a fantastic weekend, surprise weekend for my partner and attended a dear friends Wedding held at The William Cecil all in the same weekend, Staff very attentive, room was lovely greated with champagne cooling in ice bucket. Plenty of coffee, tea and treats for our stay in our room. Food at the Wedding and breakfast was beautiful, staff attentive polite and nothing was to much trouble. I thanked the cleaners as the rooms where spotless. Great weekend would recommend to all my family and friends.

We were lucky winners of a meal for two. My husband and I enjoyed a three course meal with friendly staff that looked after us from the minute we arrived until we left. The food was delicious and varied, I highly recommend the Baileys creme brulee.

We held our wedding at the William Cecil a few weeks ago. Amy, Dale and the team made our day a perfect one. They all worked incredibly hard and everything ran smoothly. We would definitely recommend the William Cecil as a wedding venue. We stayed in the 9th Earl Bridal Suite which was wonderful, it had its own private garden which was ideal for our page boys the morning of the wedding. Laura did a fantastic job of booking the rooms for our guests and making sure everyone was happy. From the point of planning our wedding to the day itself, Amy and her team were calm and organised so it was a stress free experience for us. The food served during our wedding breakfast was very good and a number of our guests said how much they enjoyed it. It was all served quickly and hot when it arrived. The kitchen and its staff also did a wonderful job. Well done the William Cecil! You definitely have it right.

We can't recommend the William Cecil enough. We held our wedding here this September and they were amazing. Amy was very thorough and very responsive with emails and such. On our wedding day we were looked after by the wonderful Kieran, nothing was too much to ask, the venue was dressed to perfection. We had the most amazing wedding. The food was delicious and all the staff polite. Thank you to all of the team for making our day so special. Sarah & James Sharpe x

Was a lucky competition winner on Facebook to win champagne afternoon tea, of which was arranged it for today to celebrate with my partner. Both of us left with a huge grin on our faces!

Staff were so polite and friendly the whole time we were there. The choice of food was incredible and the scones were absolutely delicious (and warm!)

Top place, nice staff and good food and beer. A lovely setting too with lovely quirky rooms steeped in history. A great venue for functions too. All in all, this place really is a rural treat.

My sister and brother in law married at the William Cecil yesterday and we had a wonderful day. Each and every employee worked hard to make the day perfect. The food was fantastic, lovely bedrooms, beautiful garden, great organisation and coordination and immense special thanks to Vicky who made sure everything went to plan and worked tirelessly responding to all queries and always with a friendly and helpful approach. Thank you to all the team. We could not have wished for anything more. Excellent xx

Just returned from a business stay with colleagues at the William Cecil. Lovely hotel, everyone loved their rooms and enjoyed their stay. Staff were very helpful although the bar wasnt staffed regularly and we had to find staff to be served.

We didnt eat at the hotel except for breakfast so i can only comment on that, but what i did have was superb - hot, freshly cooked and very tasty.

A beautiful and quirky hotel, one i would recommend to friends and colleagues. Well done to the team running this lovely hotel.

I had a fabulous stay here for 2 nights in the beautiful bridal suite. The room was stunning with its four poster bed, roll top bath and private garden couldn't have been better. Room service and breakfast were brill! The staff were so lovely and helped us out here and there with bits for our wedding even tho we did not have it at the hotel itself. They even came to greet us with champagne when we arrived back and took the time to wish us well. The building is gorgeous and is a stones throw from Burghley house which was handy as we took some wedding pictures there also. The Restaraunt meal we had that evening was delicious and the staff were so helpful. As I do not eat red meat I couldn't find anything I fancied on the menu so the waitress spoke to the chefs who put together a dish for me and it was absolutely delicious, can't thank them enough!

From the minute we walked through the door we were made to feel special. The staff were amazing, the hotel was beautiful and retains its old world charm, everywhere was spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was beautifully presented, delicious and excellent value. Breakfast was equally delicious. There are lots of comfortable areas to sit and relax and it’s location to the centre is really good. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

From the minute we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and every member of the team was charming, friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable and the hospitality tray was the best - it even had a complimentary elderflower vodka. Both dinner and breakfast were sublime with very good quality ingredients. We will definitely return.

Every month we have a work event at the william cecil and hire one of the rooms, we also have team meals here which i have to say, the food is always sensational, even catering for vegan and gluten free needs.



Last night i was truly blown away by the staff at the William Cecil, at the end of our event at around 930pm, one of the girls with us realized her car keys had been lost and she lives 1 hour 30 minutes away, the staff found a big torch and helped us search the car park for the lost keys, they went through all of the laundry helping look for the keys, they couldn't have done anymore, they gave us their everything searching for over an hour.



In the end, another member of the team had driven home and realized she had picked them up by accident, the hotel accommodated us while we waited for the keys to be returned again.



I honestly couldn't believe the generosity of their time and help i had to write a review.



The staff here are so helpful and kind!

Enjoyed a festive afternoon tea here the Monday before Christmas. Was greeted by friendly staff, who went above and beyond to accommodate us 3 adults and a baby. Was a lovely treat, every mouthful was delicious and tea was on tap. I Will be back and shall recommend. Thank you.

Dad stayed this weekend , he should have come to stamford last weekend but was snowed off. The Hotel were very kind and changed his booking last minute without charge. They were very accommodating to both Dad and my family. First class

AMAZING! We have just got home after having our wedding at The William Cecil. I cannot thank them enough for helping make our day so perfect! A special thank you to Shane, Amy and Megan for all your help on the day! We can't recommend The William Cecil enough. No negatives at all!

4 of us had afternoon tea at the William Cecil yesterday and it was fantastic. The price is very competitive and you get a lot of sandwiches and cakes. I had a gluten free option and can happily say that it was one of the best gluten free afternoon teas I’ve had. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

If anyone complains about the staff at William Cecil I would expect them to be professional complainers. The staff here have always been very helpful and attentive. New Years Eve was a real coup. To serve such tip top food to so many guests all in one sitting was pulled off with what seemed like complete ease (I'm sure it was really a huge, exhausting experience for the staff).

Fantastic afternoon tea. But over £12 for a glass of red wine. Outrageous price. Never ever paid that much even in London. Two drinks with the afternoon tea were a jaw dropping £18.70!! Disappointing.
