User

Have been today for lunch, the food was good and the service was excellent! I had my dog with me so we sat outside, when the waiting staff noticed my dog they came out with some treats and a bowl of water for her! I hadn’t asked for them to do that and thought it was a very nice touch, will definitely come back again!

User

Gorgeous Sunday dinner very tasty four adults and all our dinners were gorgeous, also had three children with us and the children’s dinners are a really nice size will defo be going back

User

First time eating here booked a table online perfect service in every way best pub meal in a long time lamb shank was great and my guests also loved the mixed meat platter thank you so much

User

Exceptional service, love this place!! Food always good. We will be back!

User

Ended up only having a beer (due to problems with our Dining Out cards - not the pub's fault......) but thought the place was really lovely and the staff were very pleasant. The barman (front left in the photo at the top of the page) was super helpful and a credit to the place - thank you. The food we saw looked lovely and - if we get our cards sorted - we will be back to eat some of it!!!! Beer very nice and good selection. Also a lovely little seating area by the river for a sunny afternoon.

User

Best place for miles in my opinion, food is great and staff very friendly. Always a great atmosphere!! A very big thank you to hazel and Deb Harper for everything.. you both added to a great evening!!

User

User

Very nice considering how busy they were very good will go back

User

Very good meal today. Lunchtime menu - 2 courses. Recommend the lamb koftas and double pate for starters. Recommend the burger and chips and Yorkshire ham, egg and chips. Steak sandwich was enjoyed too. Topped off with the Chase Sloe Gin.

We ate here on pie day (wed's) we both ordered a pie my wife had steak and mushroom with red wine sauce & I had the chicken & pulled gammon with a chenin blanc sauce it came with roasted carrots & seasonal veg, & triple cooked chips & a gravy boat. The carrots were burnt on one side & tasted burnt, the cabbage & broccoli were ok but the chips were cooked to my liking

My pie was nice but there wasn't enough sauce in the pie as my chicken seemed dry although it tasted ok there was very little pulled gammon in it but there was pieces but not pulled as stated.

My wife's pie contained Steak but no mushroom there was a lot of pieces of carrots but no mushroom but the sauce was plentiful.

The waitress asked if everything was alright & we told her about the carrots being burnt & no mushroom in my wife's pie she never offered to change either the pie or the carrots.

Six of us went last night for a birthday celebration. Lovely place very friendly waitress we had a great time. The only let down was the food. Very average food, nothing special. The chilli calamari had no spice at all, it was sprinkled with powdery paprika. The steak was overcooked and tough, served with 3 measley greasy onion rings. The ham with the egg and chips was dry and the thrice cooked chips were dry like fat oven chips...

Will go for a drink but not food again, it's the second time we have been let down by the food..no third chances.

User

Shown to table straight away although we wanted to get a drink from the bar, then had to wait for waitress to come to table to take drinks order. Hubby ordered extra onion rings which didn't arrive, these were taken off our bill. Got fed up of waiting for waitress so went to pay at bar, girl behind bar couldn't be bothered to open her mouth to say please or thank you won't be back in our opinion overpriced for nothing really special

User

Attended Boxing Day evening for a table we had booked, front of house & greeting was a bit slow stood at bar initially waiting to order drinks quite simple you would think being in a pub & all but no all members of staff ignored us. Once seated service was initially good, food arrived quickly & was tasty both courses as expected. Unfortunately nobody came to take our desert order & we ended up settling our bill after 35 minuites of waiting for some service. All in all not the service I had hoped for.

User

Our family of 8went here on Saturday night, such a lovely pub, the staff were brilliant an the food was really good 10 out of 10 when I’m back in Stafford visiting family we will definitely go back

User

Four of us had lunch here today and although the fish and chips looked good that some of our party had, the fish cakes and lamb duo was over cooked, dry and not appetizing in anyway. Not sure if they have changed the chef but it’s been like this the last few times I’ve been. It used to be so good! Disappointed !!

User

Basically the food was yuk and expensive I’ve had better McDonalds food than here!

User

I ordered a ribeye steak 10 ounces medium cooked from the normal menu, I got a very dried thin piece of steak it was so well done it was awful and I couldn’t chew it, I did complain but nothing was done I also complained at the end when I left half the meat and I had no response from the lady who took my meat away even though I told her to tell the chef it was disgusting. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone

User

Dreadful experience! As in other reviews we were ignored by staff as we waited for a table. We were given a table in the tiny rear room which was so dark. Had to use the torch on my phone to see the menu! Service was slow. My roast pork was very salty and when I advised the waitress there was no apology though she helpfully (!) told me no one else had complained! Potatoes and carrots were undercooked. Desert was slightly better but the spoon I was given was dirty. When I requested another I was made to feel like an awkward customer! We WILL not be going back.
