We all know that often Christmas can become rather a whirlwind of last minute preparations. So join us in our cookery school and get in the Christmas spirit as we prepare in good time for the big day. Everything you make on the day is designed to go home with you and be stored in the fridge or freezer ready for Christmas Day; making cooking and serving Christmas day lunch so much easier.
You will take home with you 12 portions of everything, mince pies, bread sauce, cranberry compote, rosemary & turkey gravy and apricot & chestnut stuffing.

We were recently approached by Berkshire Hub, who asked for our help with a project they are running for vulnerable families. This is to educate parents on how to provide the best possible nutrition for their young children whilst managing a tight budget.
Totally up our street, we invited the group for a session in our cookery school. Our aim for the session was for the ladies to enjoy the cooking while learning some new cooking techniques and recipes that would be easily replicated at home.
We had a fantastic morning, and hope the ladies are continuing to enjoy their cooking at home. You can read more about it in this week's Newbury Weekly News.

Our tutor's bakes are out of the oven and ready to be collected by the first person who replies (over our 3 social media platforms), that they would like them and are able to collect them by 5pm today. Good luck, we will let you know who was first shortly.

Today is all about bread in our cookery school. Watch out for our post later this afternoon, as our cookery school tutor will be giving ALL his bakes away to the first person who can let us know they would like them!

Harvesting from our vegetable plots for many dishes on our restaurant menus. It is great to be using our own tomatoes for our starter of 'Heritage tomatoes, basil curds, crab, our single estate olive oil' from our main menu.

What a fantastic experience. From the minute we stepped foot into the restaurant the staff went out of their way to ensure all our needs were met. The food was excellent & the wine list is exceptional. We will definitely be visiting again & really want to try the cookery school next time.

We visited The Woodspeen on our drive from London to Ashbury, after randomly seeing it via google search. It was our one year wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better choice to celebrate! Food was delicious, service impeccable and the views/setting are gorgeous. We enjoyed the venison and scallops in particular, very much!

We took my Mother there for her Birthday. The food was exceptionally good and the staff and service was five star. Well done to all at The Woodspeen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This restaurant never lets you down - we went there after long time since we moved back to London and let me tell you this place is definitely stanting on top of the list of all the restaurant we have been!The food was superb head chef Peter is always smiling and the brigate works in such harmony is lovely to watch from the open kitchen. Such a fabulous experience. The warm and inviting welcome of the staff, the fabulous environment and the incredible menu make this an unmissable restaurant. We are already planning our next visit.

Really lovely place with excellent staff. Gorgeous decor and top class food. Loved it.

Personally, I prefer 1 Michelin star restaurants to 2-3 starred- the food is normally as good without the over service which I prefer. the Woodspeen exceeded all expectations. I absolutely loved the restaurants atmosphere: it had the warmth of a local restaurant and we were greeted like old friends. The vibe was relaxed and casual, while the team provided first class service without being over bearing. The food was simply faultless. I have never had a mushroom risotto as good as The Woodspeen's. In fact, I would now be cautious to order it anywhere else. We had eaten at the one Michelin star Galvins at Windows the day before, and after eating here, we struggled to remember what we'd eaten, after the delight of The Woodspeen. It simply blew it out of the water. The only downside to the Woodspeen is it's not close enough to my house to make it my regular haunt.

Our table was opposite the kitchen & watching the chefs create our food was fantastic.

Every plate of food was made with such passion,the chef was so calm with so many orders..... I wouldn’t be!!

I’ve eaten here on many occasions and nothing comes close to The Woodspeen.

The service was and is always fantastic with very personable staff with impeccable attention to detail.

My husband and I spent our tenth anniversary here and I simply cannot recommend the Woodspeen enough, it was such a lovely atmosphere, the staff were so attentive and the food absolutely out of this world. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making our evening so perfect!

My friend and I had a beautiful lunch here today. The food was amazing, the setting was beautiful and the staff were brilliant. I highly recommend a trip here!

It was my husbands 30th back in March and I knew he was interested in attending a cookery class. He is a very difficult person to buy for but when I gave him the voucher as his gift he was so excited. He attended the Butchery course on 19th May and said it was the bestest thing he's ever done! He was so impressed by how the day was run and learnt a lot. He brought home so much food, I got to taste some of the items he made! Highly recommend and from speaking to him, he has said he would 100% return! Massive thumbs up :)

Had my birthday lunch at the Woodspeen yesterday, thanks to my son and his wife. It was out of this world. We have been several times before, but usually in the winter. We ate outside, incredible food, not a smidge left on any plate. Fabulous attentive service, couldn’t have asked for better! Thankyou so much....worth another birthday for the meal alone! We will be back!

Brilliant place, superb food that did everything you’d want it to. No stale, stuffy atmosphere just quality and fun.

Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys excellent food and drink without pretentious surroundings.

A lovely atmosphere here, created by a beautiful room with clever lighting, open kitchen, nicely spaced tables with good quality cutlery and glassware. The service was both welcoming and professional, and the menu was excellent, every dish looked very tempting! Our party of four all enjoyed every well thought out and prepared course. The wine list is extensive and there is a choice for every budget. Thank you for a memorable and very enjoyable evening.

A hidden gem at the country side with excellent service and food. A place with class and style, so considering the price levels and assumed turn-over, I truely believe that the landlord could afford to make a shelter for the smoking guests who might be 30% of visitors? If so, I will consider a visit outside the summer season

2nd visit here and once again it did not disappoint, food, service and atmosphere were top notch, staff in particular are fabulous, really made it a memorable and lovely evening, can’t wait to go back.
