 Wow..... where do I start.......

Our welcome to the hotel was lovely, warm friendly reception staff who showed us up to our room on arrival very personal touch from a busy hotel.

We arrived to our room to find a complimentary bottle of wine & treats from the hotel as we were staying for our 1st Wedding Anniversary, we were only in our room 10 minutes & a member of staff knocked with a complimentary bag of Gingerbread.

On arrival for our evening meal we received a very friendly greeting.

The food was outstanding & customer service was 5* to say the least.

We will definitely be back & would like to thank all the staff for an outstanding service.

Thank you

We have just returned from a fabulous 2 night stay at the Wordsworth, celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary. The food was excellent and the staff were just lovely; their attention to detail was second to none. Grasmere is such a lovely place to stay, walk in and explore....even in January!

User

We had our wedding here on Friday 16th June 2017 and there is only one word to describe the whole experience, perfect! Every detail was taken care of by Rachael (wedding coordinator) and she put up with all my questions and enquiries leading up to the big day. She took care of everything the night before the wedding and on the day. I had nothing to worry about. The actual day itself went without a single hiccup and every guest has commented to me since the day saying how perfect it was and what a stunning venue it is. The surrounding mountains, lakes and gardens made the most gorgeous photos. The wedding breakfast was really good considering there was over 80 people to cater for and the drinks were topped up through the meal. The waiting on staff and bar staff were very accommodating and they even made me cheese on toast at 2am! Overall the perfect place for our wedding and we are looking forward to coming back on our anniversary!

User

Superb hotel, we had a spa pamper afternoon with a champagne afternoon tea and Swedish massage package which I'd bought as a gift for my friends Christmas present... excellent massage, best I've had in ages, quiet relaxed pool, sauna and jacuzzi with views across the snow covered gardens to the fells.. then to the afternoon tea, in a lovely relaxed lounge with more pretty views of the garden and fells; glass of bubbly each, endless tea and coffee and a superb selection of sandwiches, cake and scones, all of which were divine. The staff couldn't do enough for us and we left feeling thoroughly pampered and relaxed.. hoping someone will treat me to my next visit soon! Either way; we shall be back

User

Super attentive staff nothing was too much trouble , beautiful setting food was amazing would definitely recommend a visit when in the lakes

User

Sorry this may be a long review.....

We got married here on 1st April 2017 and absolutely would recommend this as a wedding venue or as a hotel stay.

The hotel itself is gorgeous with lovely rooms. We had the inclusive exclusive wedding package which basically meant 100 of our friends and family took over the whole hotel and all the rooms from Friday lunch til Sunday lunch. This in itself was so amazing. To have all the people we love in one place for the whole weekend rather than just the big day.

The staff were so lovely. In particular Rachael the wedding coordinator who was amazing from the minute she showed us round initially, through the months leading up to the big day (and my hundreds of emails which she always responded to), through the day itself and after. Genuinely thank you so much Rachael!

Also, a special mention to Cat who spent a lot of time setting up the IT needed for the groom's speech.

Everyone raved about every aspect of the wedding from the venue, the bedrooms, the grounds (we got the sun from about lunchtime ☺), the food for the wedding breakfast.

We had the ceremony, breakfast and evening do all in the Coleridge suite which meant we had to come out while the room was changed around each time but because of the grounds and all the little lounges which interconnect, it wasn't a problem at all. In fact, it added to the day.

The hotel recommendations for the flowers, cake, hairdresser and photographer were also outstanding:

Flowers - Lily Lou's of Ambleside

Cake - Beauleas Cake Studio Lea Holcroft

Photographer - Steve Holcroft

Hair - Aqua the Salon

I seriously cannot recommend this hotel enough, so much so that we're going back there for our mini moon!

Just on our 6 your journey home South from a long weekend at this stunning hotel for my 30th birthday! The service was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. Food was incredible and the spa was amazing! Perfect location for a quiet get away and we will definitely be returning! Thank you from us both. You made my birthday one to remember

Having been invited to DJ a Wedding on Saturday evening. I found all the staff so accommodating and nothing was too much for them. I would certainly recommend this venue especially if you wanted a relaxing setting for your wedding or event.

Thank you Gary @Absolute DJs Ltd.

User

Fantastic Day, we did the spa day experience with massage and use of the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Followed by Champagne afternoon tea, which was delicious. Would highly recommend to other people! Xxx

User

Beautiful place to stay in the Grasmere. Me and my wife were married here in 2016 so it’s always going to be a special place and came back here for my daughters first birthday. Staff are so friendly and will do anything to make your stay great. Definitely will be back!

User

Really friendly staff who were attentive to requests which made our stay that more welcoming and relaxing. The venue is sophisticated and the dining and common areas are elegant yet the staff and business are very accommodating to children/families as we had our 2 year old present who they were happy to entertain in every way a two year old demands! Would definitely stay again as regulars to the Grasmere area. Dining and Common areas were the bonus aspects for us.

User

Hotel is ok, not more. Room is quite nice and clean, key to door somehow stuck, we always fought for minutes before it would open. No help from staff.

Most people on the staff are obviously from Eastern Europe, no problem in general, but they have no clue about the surroundings and aren't able to give any advice or help for tours and sights.

Breakfast is ok, but for 12.50 you would expect a little more variety. Everything else but plain tea and normal coffee costs extra, which is ridiculous nowadays that simple coffee makers can produce specialities such as Cappuccino and Espresso at no cost. The whole place could need some revamp

User

Had a spa day here, champagne afternoon tea and use of spa facilities. I have to say we were very disappointed with the spa! Pool quite small and very cramped changing facilities. The whole place needs a revamp, I thought the pool area was actually quite unclean, this is a shame as this is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Afternoon tea was very average, the waiter brought the tea 10 minutes before the sandwiches and cakes and so therefore it was stewed and cold by the time I had it with my food. Sorry but would not recommend for a spa day. Far superior places in the Lake District. Such a shame it needs a massive overhaul!

User

Disappointing. The staff were friendly and helpful but our room, a superior courtyard, while being bright , modern, and clean was very very small with no room to move. The rest of the hotel is dated and stuffy, from the swags and tails to the decor and over abundance of Christmas themed teddy bears. The £40 set dinner owed more to presentation than flavour and taste, and if only the full English served at breakfast had been as hot as the plate it was served on.

User

Disappointing visit. Firstly, I'm not sure how well the room had been cleaned as a used cotton bud was found on the floor by the bed. The room was unbearably hot, we had to turn the radiator off, use both the ceiling and table fan, and open the window: in February! The heat didn't provide the greatest nights sleep.

The breakfast could've been much better. The Cumbrian cooked breakfast was meagre, one egg, one sausage, one slice of black pudding with two mushrooms and half a tomato. The bacon was overdone and hard, with the rest of the food hardly warm.

We visited the spa which was great but it would've been useful to know you need a pound coin for the lockers. We didn't take any money down with us so had to leave our things in an unlocked locker.

Staff very friendly and a great location. Our evening meal at their Dove bistro was ok, the staff were friendly but the food wasn't a wow. It was also quite cold in there.

I would come to Grasmere again, but not to this hotel.

User

Could of been better.. but still had a lovely time away.

Firstly the location is a cosy, lovely village I would definitely return!! Sadly I'm not sure to this hotel.. it's nice don't get me wrong but just a few hiccups.. My husband arranged us to stay here for our first wedding anniversary (a special time) which wasn't really a big deal to the hotel now seeing reviews off people treated better than us for their 1st wedding anniversaries....

anyway, He arranged a few Surprises, one being spa treatment and evening meal but on arrival the lady on check in told us the treatment time had been changed and our dinner reservation time that evening... she obviously didn't know it was meant to be a surprise for me..

I was very happy with the surprises but could see on my husbands face he was disappointed she had ruined the plan of him telling me himself. Luckily he also paid for flowers, chocolates and a bottle of wine to be in the room on arrival Which she didn't let slip and was lovely to walk into. The wine was only a mini bottle though.

Staff friendly.

The room was ok, clean, but like other reviews blind shut to hide the view and room way too warm. No aircon. But did provide a fan in the wardrobe to use.

Food nice enough but we ate elsewhere our second night and was very special.

just wish to say a special thank you to the spa therapist Louise I had a lovely relaxing massage she was amazing and with me in that field of work myself I know how good she is. Highly recommend her services.
