Went for Sunday lunch today and I have to admit it was beautiful. We are all quick to moan and groan when it's not good and rarely give a good word or thank you, but honestly the staff were friendly and enjoyed talking to us. They were more than accommodating being as I have my young dog with us giving him water etc. The meal itself what can I say expect lovely really enjoyable ( my partners daughter is a finicky eater and does not enjoy Sunday lunch) and they catered for her too, and the dessert platter well it must be sampled to be savoured. It is really a true gem to go and eat and relax at such a homely establishment Thank you

We ate yesterday evening (20th may) we booked a table for 2 and when we arrived we had a nice smiling face to great us and was shown to our seats.. lovely rustic feel in the place and the staff were amazing and helpful we had a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine and what can i say the food was amazing we had a rump and ribeye steak and it was perfect and you get stacks of food...we will certainly be returning as this is a hidden gem of a place..

Visited yesterday with friends and family including my 94 year old mum. Had a lovely time. Friendly and efficient staff. Food was good and great value for money

User

Very disappointed. Staff were lovely. But the bar was covered in empty glasses. No name on beer taps so had to ask what they had(very little if your a real ale person like my husband) I had beef dinner husband pork. The beef was red with blood so swapped with hubby for pork full of fat yuk. Not everyone likes meat rare so should of asked me how I liked it. Hardley any veg and who has courgettes on a roast dinner. WouldnŌĆÖt go Back.

User

Really good lunch menu. Nice choice. Fresh vegetables, real chips. Lovely warm open fire. Decent beer. Friendly staff. Had an excellent Friday lunchtime meal, best meal out in ages actually.

User

Have passed by a number of times and finally called in.

Lovely place serving genuine home made food at the right price. Great service from the very welcoming staff.

Should have made the effort to visit earlier

User

Great service, friendly place and great food. Fab knowledge of gluten free items, for my partner who is a coeliac. Xx

User

Great place. Very friendly staff (sorry about Mr Napkin Face). The food was amazing and incredible value. I would definitely recommend this place and wish it was nearer as I'm sure it would fast become one of our favourite haunts.

User

Great food, great service, great price.

You are always made to feel welcome here, even our doggie who was given a lovely treat. Not too many places are dog friendly these days sadly.

One of our favourite places to eat

User

First visit to the Yorkshireman on Saturday night for many years. The food was excellent, service was excellent and priced very reasonable for the quality of food. Cannot complain about anything. Will definitely be coming back ’┐Į

User

First ever visit to The Yorkshireman this lunchtime, celebrating a family birthday. The food was excellent- nice to have veggies with the roasts that weren't cooked to oblivion. Two of us opted for the nut roast and have to say it was one of the best we've ever had- nice and flavoursome.

The service was impeccable- even as things started to get busier; we neither felt rushed nor that we were kept waiting. A nice, relaxed atmosphere and the dessert platter was gorgeous at the end of the meal (we were determined to try these, even though the generous mains were more than a bit filling!)

Thanks to all the staff for a great first visit! Hope to be back soon.

User

Being a regular at the Yorkshire man enjoying numerous lunchtimes , evenings and Sunday lunch times. The menu changes to reflect the seasons and has locally sourced ingredients. Always freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Good wine list and ’┐Į.

Service is attentive and is by far the best place to eat locally .

User

We didn't eat, although the food others were eating looked delicious, but as we were in a rush with less than 20 minutes until our train it was more a challenge to drink than anything else.

The barmaid was superb, serving up 2 and a half pints in no time at all. The place looked welcoming and homely. And the run back to the station was much easier, refreshed with a pint of San Miguel inside :)

User

Four is ate at the Yorkshireman for Easter Sunday lunch. Starters were good, main (roast beef) was excellent, puddings were a little disappointing - three chocolate bread puddings were a bit small, the dessert platter was tiny but for ┬Ż2.75 we didn't expect them to be huge! All in all, great value and good food. Beer was excellent!

User

Today we brought family out for dinner as they came to visit their great nephew. The service was excellent & food was delicious. However we were rather disappointed with the portion sizes with all courses. Some of the party were still hungry when we left.

User

The menu we were given only had everything with chips on it, I asked the waitress for jacket potato she said they don't do them, the chips tasted like they had been put back in the fryer after being bought from the chip shop, as we finished our meal as didn't want to make a fuss we went to have a drink in the bar but had to leave because my partner is alergic to dogs

User

My husband and daughter took some friends of ours here in November. We have been as a family and with other friends many times and the service, quality of food and quantity has always been excellent. However, on this last visit, although the food was good, the portions were meagre to say the least. Having recommended this establishment in the past I would now say, don't go if your hungry, as you will need to call at the chippy on the way home to fill up.

User

Honestly... we came here because of the link with 1709 in Lichfield. We actually had high expectations because of previous good experiences at 1709, however, we left a little disappointed.

The food was a little good and little bad. The starters were ok, mine ( pigeon breast ) was tough and chewy, but my wifeŌĆÖs ( mackerel ) was quite nice. The mains were both quite poor. The pumpkin pasta was almost solid, despite a nice flavour, you really needed to chew to get through it. The burger was ok, but the chips that came with it token gesture rather than an an accompaniment...A few more were needed.

The drinks were expensive at 6 quid for a glass of wine, and the glasses could do with a clean.

Over all, not drastically poor, but I expected better from a partner of 1709. IŌĆÖd rather go back to 1709 than the Yorkshireman for better food, atmosphere and value.

Sorry for the blunt honesty.
