Thea'S Cottage
About Thea'S Cottage
Thea's Cottage offers self-catering accommodation for up to 6 people in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park
Thea'S Cottage Description
Thea’s Cottage is situated in the tiny hamlet of Satron, just under a mile West of Gunnerside. Beautifully positioned away from the road and overlooking the river and hillside beyond, it offers accommodation of up to six adults in a traditional ‘long house’ which has been adapted for 21st century living whilst retaining many original features.
Fully renovated in 2009 and awarded tourism 4 Star designation, the accommodation comprises a spacious stone flagged kitchen dining area with log-burning stove; a flagged sitting room with stove; a utility and boot room with washing machine /dryer and a downstairs toilet; two king-size bedrooms - one using the luxurious house bath and shower room and the other with an en-suite bath and shower room. The third is twin-bedded with an en-suite shower room.
A selection of maps and walking books are provided and, if staying in is on your mind, various house games are there for you. The sitting room has a curved 4K (UHD) Freesat TV and Bluetooth soundbar, a blu-ray DVD player and an i-pod docking station. There is also a wall-mounted television in the dining area. The cottage is fitted with WiFi.
Outside is a walled garden and patio area to the south with built-in barbecue and outside furniture and to the north is a grass terrace with benches taking in the views of beautiful Swaledale.

Snowdrops just the other side of Ivelet Bridge on the way up to Gunnerside Lodge
5 mile walk starting in Keld before heading to Angram and then onto the moors towards High Bridge before returning parallel to the Swale. The moorland walk has far-reaching views all the way into Cumbria
5 1/4 mile walk starting from Reeth, heading along the River Swale and up to Maiden Castle before heading across the moors to Grinton, just south of the youth hostel
About 6.25 miles in total with splendid views over Swaledale and Arkengarthdale
Delightful walk from Reeth to Fore Gill Gate, then to Langthwaite and back to Reeth along Arkle Beck, all about 8 miles long.

One of my favourite walks from Thea's - down to Ivelet Bridge and up the hill alongside Oxnop Gill. This walk is about 3 miles and has waterfalls, moorland, road walking, bridges, forests, panoramic views and a gentle descent back into Satron and Thea's Cottage.
For a small village Reeth punches above its weight on Bonfire Night! Even better when you can watch with a pint of ale in your hand!
November 2018 at Thea's. Lovely walk up at Old Gang Mines and Surrender Bridge.
