遗忘 means ‘Forgotten’. ‘Left behind’. ‘Erased’.
1917. Shandong Province, Northern China. Times are tough in Horse Shoe Village. Old Six and Second Moon struggle to earn enough to feed their young child. Big dog struggles to overcome opium addiction and for Eunuch Lin, the fall of the Imperial Dynasty couldn’t have come at a worse time. Could a fierce war away in Europe present an opportunity to put both themselves and their struggling nation on its feet?
Forgotten 遗忘 is inspir...ed by the little-known story of the 140,000-strong Chinese Labour Corps who left everything and travelled halfway around the world to work for Britain and the Allies behind the front lines during World War One.
Written by Daniel York Loh. Directed by Kim Pearce.
Running time: 2hrs (approx.) Age guidance: 14+

What a fabulous evening of beautiful music. Russell Watson in his show Canzoni i d'Amore was a treat. He has come through major health scares and in spite of predictions that he may not sing again has proved he has emerged an amazing singer and truly warm and endearing entertainer.

The programme was packed with meaningful songs and poignant lyrics. He gave his all as did everyone on stage. Please may we have him back again soon. A very special man with a great deal of courage.

User

We had the best day seeing the enormous turnip production today. Such engaging talented actors, wonderful puppetry and songs! We all loved the show from start to finish, laughed and clapped a lot! Thank you so much 😊 we can’t wait for the gingerbread man! :D

Miss Saigon was the best stage show I have ever seen.

The cast were so professional .

The lead stars voices were spectacular .

Costumes and scenery were breathtaking .

The helicopter scene blew me away.

I want to see it all again.

Well done all.

User

Miss Saigon tonight was Brilliant !!! Saw it 30 years ago in London and couldn't wait to see it tonight . I was not disappointed it was incredible the cast and the awesome scenery had me in tears " AMAZING " .

User

Just saw Miss Saigon, absolutely fab!!

The performance was out of this world, and the woman who plays Kim has a fantastic voice (So do all the rest, but her vocal was phenomenal) loved the engineers role, so funny.

User

I unfortunately broke my leg 5 weeks ago and have had tickets booked for The Band for ages. The front of house staff were truly exceptional. Firstly swapping my ticket for a wheelchair seat and then providing me with a proper seat and stool to rest my leg on for the performance. Also the front of house manager checked everything was ok more than once through the evening. The most comfortable evening I have ever spent at the theatre and a fab show!!!

I took my mum to see Summer Holiday last night as a birthday treat and it was fantastic. Not only a great performance but the service and hospitality was first class. I reserved a table in the restaurant for the evening and the food was absolutely perfect. The young lady looking after us for the evening was very pleasant and professional, with nothing being too much trouble. After the first part of the show we returned to our table for the interval and our drinks were waiting on the table perfectly on time.

My mum had a wonderful evening and I look forward to coming back again soon. Many thanks indeed for providing a very memorable and special evening.

User

I just want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to whoever my husband spoke to in the box office. It's been a really rubbish time of it recently - so an unexpectedly kind full refund with less than three hours notice was very much appreciated. It actually made me cry with gratitude. I love a night at the Theatre Royal and look forward to many more when times feel brighter.

User

I came here tonight for the first time ever to watch summer holiday with my mum all I can say is it was well worth the money for the tickets n the atmosphere was brilliant staff r lovely n helpful deffo gonna come again near Christmas with the children to watch a show with them xxx

User

Had the most fantastic visit yesterday. We were late coming in to watch Peter Pan because of unexpected events and the staff and ushers were amazing with us. I was really worried we wouldn't be allowed in or couldn't be sat in our seats without disturbing other's but they sorted everything out and weren't rude or cross with us. We really appreciate that. Peter Pan was brilliant and my son got a shout out as it was his 9th birthday. Great experience as always!!

User

First time visit to Theatre Royal, came to see The Nativity - The Musical absolutely loved it so funny, a definite watch for all the family. Would also say a big Thankyou to the theatre having not been before and not very mobile on the legs rang to book my tickets. The person I spoke to couldn’t have been more helpful and the seats we had were excellent and I had easy access to my seats and they were really comfortable. Ironically the only thing that I would change is to have an extra cushion for the seat to raise the height, not for view, but for comfort due to hip and muscles discomfort in regular position, so I sat on my coat.

User

Been to see The Jungle Book Matinee on 6/4/18 it was the first musical we’ve all ever been too, and early birthday treat for my daughters who are nearly 10&11. Fabulous story line, singing out of this world (Mowgli was awesome!) and the wit was bril, placing plenty of laughs all the way through, a lot owed to Baloo! Absolutely enjoyed it, but not what we expected, but a much better different. Very visionary, current, and well Choreographed. Would easily watch it again! At £22 per ticket money well spent, loved the fact the monkeys came into the audience and played people up. We were 2nd row and had a fabulous view! All performers are all very agile being as they all scampered up and down scaffolding scenery with great ease, and had head for heights unlike myself! well done to everyone in the show, hope We get to see many more like it

User

Went to see the panto Peter Pan last week. Andy Ford made the show with his comedy and banter. The bits in between were average and we were really disappointed with Steve McFadden as Hook. His acting was poor and lumbered with no sense of bounce or energy. Think he should stick to Eastenders as he plays a better bad guy in that than he does Hook. He mumbled and spoke so fast we couldn't understand or hear half of the things he said. Been to several Pantos here and this one was the poorest we have seen. Service at the theatre was fab as usual, friendly, helpful and cheerful staff.

User

We went to see summer holiday Saturday. Was really disapointted that ray Quinn decided not to do evening show . But must say the stand in and cast were really good . A bit sad that some songs were from another film . But they had people off their seats and singing so a great effort who needs stars when you have really good stand ins . And cast . Well done to all one thing when you do lights on bus the people in the front get blinded by lights . So dip them a bit . Would see it again .

User

Excellent pantomime, best I’ve ever been to. Great auditorium with plenty of leg room and good view of stage. Just a shame that toilet facilities and cafe were so small considering the amount of people that can be in the theatre at any time.

User

Been to see a Peter Pan tonight. The show was really good but was hard to see a lot of the cast, especially the children as there was so much smoke in lots of scenes. By the time the smoke disappeared the scene was over. Was a shame as missed lots of what was going on. Also the one dance that the children did had the adults standing in front so again blocked the views. Apart from that it was an enjoyable performance.

User

Andy Ford made what otherwise could have been an average Panto this year, jokes (without the crudeness of last years) very good and his timing was brilliant. Audience of ages appreciated his efforts far more than the so called star who couldn’t even be bothered to address the audience at the end of the show. Lighting and sound very good this year, well done all concerned.

The Paul Zerdin panto of couple years back still head and shoulders better than anything since.

User

Myself and my family went to see the jungle book tonight and for the first time I left the theatre royal extremely disappointed.

It’s not anything like jungle book story and none of the characters look like the characters. The performance was extremely short when I was charged £26.50 each person, my daughters were in tears having been So excited about it I’m afraid to say it was a waste of fuel and time for us all.

I don’t feel this was accurately described performance.
