This was a fantastic place to stay. My husband booked it as a surprise for my "Special " birthday . We stayed in the oldest part of the estate house. The room was stunning, clean and tidy. The food was outstanding. The staff were very polite and helpful. Can't wait to return in the future.

User

Theobalds Estate is an amazing setting for your wedding. We just had our son and now, daughter in laws wedding on the 31st March. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, if we wanted it, it was there. They were working really hard all day long to insure the wedding went as smoothly as possible as well as the day before with setting everything up. So, from me, the father of the groom, a hug thank you to you all for the amazing effort you all put in. You guys rock and should be very proud of yourselves. Thank you. Xx

Thank you to the team at De Vere Theobalds Estate for helping us organise a wonderful private event for my family and friends. Right from the start the staff were friendly and professional. The team on the day, particularly Jamie, were incredibly attentive and made sure our day was special and all our requests were heeded to, even though there was a large wedding party next door. They did not let it impact on our day at all. Everyone enjoyed the food and the beautiful surroundings. We were really impressed by the team and the venue and would certainly recommend it for weddings and parties. Many thanks again.

User

Perfect place for a wedding 🎩👰🏻. The staff were really great and so helpful. The mansion house is beautiful and so are the grounds. The rooms are pleasant and have every thing you need. Breakfast was brilliant and so much choice. Would highly recommend.

User

My husband and I stayed here last night as we were attending a friend's 50th birthday down the road.

We were greeted with a lovely smile from the staff who was friendly and attentive, we were completely blown away by the beauty of this place, the fabulous building and lovely grounds that surrounded it, our room was in the mansion house and we couldn't have been happier. The room was gorgeous, bed was comfy and bathroom was clean and spacious (though the shower could have been a little bit better, no pressure and it was more of a trickle of water).

We slept really well and was surprisingly quiet with it being so close to the M25. We will definitely be making a return visit in the near future.

User

I took an old school friend for afternoon tea to celebrate her 50th birthday. They made us feel so special and nothing was too much trouble. Tina was the waitress that made sure we enjoying our visit. She was smiley, friendly , professional and a massive asset to the hotel. The afternoon tea not only looked delicious it tasted it too!! A selection of sandwiches and cakes and lots of hot fresh tea. What a wonderful way to spend a wet and windy afternoon. I will definitely be back, would recommend the afternoon tea to everyone. Well worth a visit. Thank you Tina for making our visit so enjoyable X

Attended a wedding and stayed the night here

Everything was excellent

Rooms good although very hot but then it was 27 degrees that weekend

User

We had a wedding in the barn in 24/2/18 It was lovely a great day I would not change a think in the barn but I did get Told from the best man that when he and the groom got there the red carpet was not out and Carl did not know we was having but did get it out for as the Communication from Sale to Carl was not great some Thinking he not know about until the best man tell him or say to him were is this or that ... but as for the bed room I was speaking to my friends that stay that night for the wedding and most of th m had no hearting in the bedroom and there was very cold all night the self was good and Carl banqueting manager was great 👍

User

Thanks, we had a good stay- would have preferred to have a room in the main hotel, as opposed to the side buildings, but overall it was a pleasant stay in a nice room and a wonderful brekkie. Thanks

User

Stayed at this hotel while participating in a conference. Beautiful grounds, even spotted local wildlife. Room was clean, comfortable and warm thankfully, as it was very cold outside. There was a good choice of food at breakfast & lunch and staff were friendly, polite, helpful and extremely apologetic when, I had the wait a few mins while they cleared & laid a table for me at breakfast. It was the weekend and they were very busy and I arrived at a busy time.

Conference facilities seemed good with an unlimited supply of tea, coffee and water available throughout the day.

User

Had a really nice stay. The reception staff were really helpful although the room could have done with some TLC, the paint was chipping on window frame and the sealing showed the remains of a repaired and painting leak. Having said that it's an old building and it's going to show signs of this.

The room was clean, the bed was comfy, bathroom clean, enough towels provided, an iron, tea and coffee provided in the room. The grounds were beautiful. Overall very happy with our stay.

User

The food was good and the staff during service were efficient and helpful 😁

User

Room was ok but bathroom floor was dirty and odd tiny marks on the wall ?? Looked like blood...... Room was so hot it was unreal. Fan helped tho. Room was very dusty which was disappointing.Evening meal , food was so lovely, I've stayed here before many times with work ( as alot of my colleagues do ) and had great service. This time staff seemed too busy chatting to bring us main meal after starters, we had to ask. No offer of desert either. Table was for 4, with 4 people on it, no room for food and drink for 4 ! Everywhere was just so hot it was uncomfortable. Reception lady was lovely, I was booked into the ridings but my colleagues were all in mansion house so she moved me to be near them, very pleasant lady. Breakfast was nice although had to ask twice for poached eggs. So the stay was ok. Not as impressed as I have been many times before.

User

Our overall stay was pleasant, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean even though a little cold on arrival.

My husband and I ordered food from the bar before we went onto our event that night, when it arrived the presentation was lovely, the chips were hot and crispy and no grease in sight however the chicken wings and ribs were lukewarm and could of done with being a lot hotter than they were which we mentioned to the barman when he collected our plates.

The following day we had breakfast which again the presentation was lovely, a great selection to choose from and was hot but the hash browns were overlooked as they were burnt and dried, the black pudding was rubbery and the beans had no sauce to it as it had dried a little.

This is the second time we've stayed in the hotel but the first time we have eaten, although there were a couple of dislikes I do believe in second chances so hopefully on our return there will be an improvement.

Kind regards

Mrs Y Kane.

I stayed at the DeVere Theobalds Estate for a conference. On arrival, the venue looked impressive. Once in my room, I switched the kettle on to find it didn’t work. Despite two calls to Reception, it took 2.5 hrs for someone to come with a new kettle! My room was modern & clean, but very warm. Dinner was good as was breakfast, but the shower was the worst I have ever come across. The bath tap & the shower tap both coming on at the same time. Cold water to the bath; boiling hot to the shower. Others at the conference had the same experience. Not the standard I was expecting of a De Vere!

User

To be honest I was disappointed, what a beautiful place, and great staff but what a poor dining room and menu. Obviously it’s main function is as a breakfast room and for that purpose it’s fine but my wife and I felt that the dining room was more for the business person who was staying overnight and wanted something to eat before bed. Perhaps our expectations were to high but I would have loved to have sat in perhaps an older part of the house in one of the high ceiling rooms with some good wine and great food. I would love De Vere to rethink the opportunity that they have here and invite us back.

Kind regards

There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms so in the current weather they are like a sauna. I stayed on the third floor and the window has a safety latch which means they only open a few inches. I could sleep at all during my stay which really is the purpose of staying in a hotel - it was torturous. When I reported it to reception they just spologised and said they couldn’t do anything about a heatwave. Avoid this hotel unless travelling in the winter!

Rooms are poor . Not worth the price

User

I booked a room for my husband's birthday, we are 2 very busy parents to 5 boys and this was a night out to relax, we stayed in a double room in the ridings, there was 2 weddings going on and was told on arrival where we were to go to find our room, (wasnt shown and found it quite difficult to find )as we had to walk through a whole wedding party to get to our room, which was cold on arrival, had dirty carpet, marks on the walls, no complimentary toiletries except for shampoo and shower gel and a tiny bar of soap, no face cloth, no bathrobes, no water in our room ( which I've always had in other hotels), I rang reception and was told to go to the bar to purchase water, after having to walk through the wedding party again to go and buy water from the bar which was so far away from our room we couldnt sit down and relax as it was auite a trek to get back to the barn where our room was and we had to keep disturbing the wedding guests ( awkward) when we wanted to leave our room, we couldn't walk the grounds as the other wedding party was going on too. so we spent the night in our room, the bed was comfy and clean, the breakfast buffet was lovely, great choice of food and nice and fresh, on checking out the guy on reception really has no customer service skills as he literally just took the keys and said 'bye' , no thanks for staying, or how was your stay.. I don't think we'll be staying again as I spent £129 for the room including breakfast for the night, and found it to be very disappointing and not worth the money at all. we usually stay in another hotel in cheshunt ( marriott)which is a lot less money and you get a lot more space and comfort, but there are no grounds there because if it's location so we thought we'd stay at de veres for a change as it has great gardens and the space inside the building is lovely but we didn't get to experience any of it.
