We went to the whistle and flute and had an excellent meal I had jumbo fish and chips and my husband had Haddock Morney, food was piping hot, freshly cooked real chips and you don't get that at many places these days it usually frozen chips. We had no complaints at all if you want freshly cooked food and not taken out of a fridge like you get in most pubs selling meals now I don't mind waiting.

We went for tea last night and both the food and hospitality were fabulous ๏ฟฝ we will be back soon to sample more delights from the menu. Many thanks

We popped in on Saturday evening without booking and could not have been made to feel more welcome. Despite being stacked out, we were quickly found a table. The service was great and the meals, as ever, were fantastic and great value. I would highly recommend you try the Whistle and Flute if you have never been before. We look forward to returning soon.

Very good food . My only issue was the mixed grill was off the menu and ordered pate to be told they ran out . But food was lovely and the chips was awsome

User

Ten of us had lunch together today as we do each month. Excellent! We ordered different food but all was served at same time and we agreed was delicious. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. Gentleman in charge was great - friendly and cheerful. We will be back!

I've not had a meal at the Whistle and Flute for years and ask myself why.....it was absolutely delicious and left just enough room for a dessert - double chocolate brownie -never tasted anything so good. All I can say is "See you soon!" Thank you xx

I went last night for the first time with my friend, it won't be the last. I had pork loin chop with Apple and Stilton melt. All fresh vegetables served piping hot. My friend had the fish pie which she said was the best she had ever had. Friendly staff. Brilliant.

Having not been for over a year, a friend and I decided to go for lunch today. Both had omelette and chips and it was lovely. Although food wasn't bad before, it had definitely improved, as had the staff. Will definitely be returning

User

Fantastic food and staff

Called in for tea, what a lovely evening, got served by very friendly polite staff and ate some very tasty beautifully presented food.

We had soup and black pudding bonbons to start, followed by trio of pork and chicken parmigiana,it was all very hot and cooked to perfection,we were too full to have a dessert as the portions were very generous.

Will definitely be back for more.

We have been to this place many times and not once have we had cause to complain the food has always been amazing, but do feel disgruntled over what happened last night. My husband ordered a mixed grill and when it came he could see straight away the steak was not going to be good. It was a thick lump of meat not a flat steak like you would expect, it looked more like the end cut off.. It was extremely difficult to cut and chew so when the waitress asked us if everything was ok he did say how inedible it was. She said she would tell the chef so we waited thinking she was bringing us a replacement, but no that was obviously not their intention . We finished our meal before she came again so I asked her why she didn't bring another one and she told us they were in between changing chefs and the manager wasn't there that night and it is normally their decision as to whether the steak is changed or not. Not really our problem , they did offer to not charge us for one of the meals (we don't know which one as the bill wasn't itemised) . This was fair enough but not really what you would expect . I have to say the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food it was not her fault and the pate and the brie wedges we had as a starter were gorgeous , but we did feel let down with the main. I had a fish platter which really consisted of fish and chips with some scampi and and prawns thrown on top. As we have had good meals here before we will return just to see if this was a "one off" but really to not change the steak was quite unacceptable .

Was very disappointed such a shame booked for a birthday celebration and left feeling Hungary served raw bacon cold rice long wait management did handle complaint well to be fair but unfortunately wonโ€™t be returning
