Thistle City Barbican Hotel

Friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. The room was a perfect size and very comfortable. The bathroom had a bath/ shower which was excellent for me but could be a problem for more elderly visitors (although I'm sure there's a room suitable for everyone).
Took a dip in the pool in the afternoon, then relaxed in the steam room. Wonderful.
The buffet breakfast was expansive and had a huge range of fruit, cooked meats, eggs, porridge, yoghurt, cereals etc etc.
I had a very relaxing stay here and used it's location to easily get around London using the tube and buses from Old Street.
I felt very well looked after and would highly recommend it.

Dated room but very clean and functional. Front of desk staff Seline was very good checking me in. She upgraded me from single to double room. They're bicycle friendly, allowing me to leave the bicycle in the luggage storage room. the housekeeping were very good, i left my Fitbit in the room after I checked out, phoned up.and they found it. Pool area clean but closed a bit early. Overall good hotel for the price paid.

Was on a training course for 2 days. Location was okay. Room was a good size and layout good but the seats were not good enough to sit on for a full day. Really not comfortable. The coffee provided was a bit weak. The food was okay, very good brownies!

Would like to give 3,5 star but that is not possible. Became a 3 star because of the outdated bathroom and high prices of drinks and food. However, very friendly staff! Room was clean. Good place to visit London and nice swimming pool. Good enough for us to go back!

First room was so badly insulated, it sounded like the busy road below was actually passing through my room. Tried calling reception, no answer, so went down and swapped rooms. The 'new' room was quieter but not exactly salubrious, there's no fridge and their idea of AC is a metal fan on the floor! If I'm forking out £250 a night, I expect far higher standards! Probably best if they levelled the building and built something half decent, a skip would be an improvement! I've prewarned work very to book this hotel again! AVOID!!

Very good hotel with great facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we needed. Good spread of food for breakfast, great location only a short walk to tube stations and buses. Very close walking distance to nightlife. Very enjoyable stay

A mixed bag hotel, it really is down to who is serving you. Waited in total of 2 hours for a 2 course meal on the first night i arrived. The restaurant was busy but no one should wait 2 hours. Second night service from the bar area was excellent. Hotel room was clean and tidy. This was in the new part of the building. Gym and swimming pool can get really busy.

It's a good basic hotel. The check-in process seemed laborious though. If this place was more reasonably priced I might give it an extra star, but there is better value to be had in London.

I stayed here on business in January. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The communal areas, foyer etc. were all clean and of a good, modern standard. The room however was poor. Wallpaper was peeling off, the bedside table was hanging off the wall on one side so couldn't be used and the bathroom was good enough but old and tired. Also the one morning I got up to use the gym and pool, the attendant hadn't turned up and there was a queue of people going up the stairs waiting for it to open. After 10 minutes I gave up. Let me finish with a positive as the restaurant was excellent, especially for breakfast, service was a little slow on the Sunday evening, but in the morning everything was quick and efficient with a great variety and a really good coffee machine. I also liked that there was a selection of fruit, sandwiches, drinks etc., that could be purchased to any time of day to take with you.
All-in-all, I'd be wanting a better room if I was to stay again and I wouldn't choose this hotel over another on the basis of the gym/pool.
