travel agents review - were fussy! We had our wedding reception here which was very well priced in a beautiful room on the 1st floor with views of the Marina. The wedding co-ordinator at the hotel organised the catering/decoration & it looked beautiful. We have been back to stay for our anniversary which was complimentary & the staff were absolutely lovely & very polite. We had an evening meal & the food and service was again amazing. Breakfast was lovely, the location is amazing & the staff & service, simply excellent!! Thank you so much to everyone who made our stay a really enjoyable experience, you all deserve a pat on the back! Jennie & Mark Mizen.

We stayed for 2 nights with our dog and was a great place to stay, good size rooms, clean and no smell of previous dogs being in the room and the staff very helpful.

Cookies made by the chef were great on checking in, if you want a cuppa on arrival. Great location to coastal walk, pubs and shops and being so close to the sea was nice.

We will definately be back.

User

We stayed at the thistle this weekend. We were greeted with a warm welcome, check in was fast. Room was lovely and breakfast in the morning was excellent. My husband even ordered flowers which were waiting in the room for us on arribal. Thank you for a lovely stay

User

User

We had such a good visit and found every part of our stay well catered for.

Excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

User

We had a lovely afternoon tea with prosecco. The food was freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The view from the first floor restaurant was stunning. The service was very good and the waitress was friendly. This all made our wedding anniversary tea very special.

User

Think the previous review must have gone to wrong place!! Four of us had afternoon tea here ..the staff were really friendly and helpful and didn't rush us ...it was great - can't fault it and don't have to pay parking just register car at reception!! Much better than any others i have been too!!

User

My husband and I had a really lovely afternoon tea at the Thistle yesterday. We took my In Laws with us and they loved looking out over the harbour while we ate. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and the afternoon tea was very generous. Perfect, thank you.

User

I booked a cream team and the thistle through groupon and I was very impressed! I had heard a few things but was optimistic but came away very happy. Stress free when we arrived and lovely view over the quay with a nice afternoon tea. Defiantly recommend.

User

15 of us booked in for "Mothers Day" yesterday 26.03.17 ( young through to old) - fabulous service, staff couldn't do enough for us. Excellent choice of food in all 3 courses. Plus box of chocolates for all the mums. Thankyou for a lovely few hours - with such a stunning view with the added bonus of beautiful weather.

User

Very nice hotel. Lovely views overlooking the seafront and a great idea having the binoculars in the room! Great size room well equipped and very clean. My only negative comment would be the breakfast...although plenty to chose from it was pre cooked and all a bit cold and dried up by the time we got there which wasn't late 08.15.

Would definately stay here again

User

Needed to stay in Poole for one night, booked Thistle via Company booking system. On arrival check-in was fast, efficient and lady that checked me in was very helpful. My room was on 2nd floor. Room totally fine, bed very comfortable view out directly to harbour. Evening meal in main restaurant was good quality, hot, fresh and service very good. Breakfast buffet style. Again hot and ingredients good quality. Location of hotel excellent adjacent to quay and harbour front. My company paid for my stay and my food, but I would more than happily pay to stay here again and will do if I need to stay in Poole again which I am sure I will do. Well done all at Thistle Poole.

User

We stayed one night here as a stop off . Receptionist made us welcome . Room was clean . Disappointed as only a standard double bed . Towels were lovely and fluffy - also a good size . We were in room 111 and at 5am the bathroom extractor fan cut in spontaneously ! Reported to reception when we checked out !

Thought we would have a snack in the hotel bar the previous evening - we ordered hummus and flat bread , a beef & horseradish sandwich , a beer and a glass of rosé . All good so far .......

Over charged ..... so given £5 back !

Hummus and flat bread arrived ...... no sandwich ...... not on the original order !

Sandwich re-ordered ..... takes a while to appear .....

Waiter apologises for the wait and said the "chips are coming" ........ didn't order chips !!!!!

Staff were apologetic - the female supervisor also made a point of apologising - and a complimentary large glass of red and a large glass of rose helped !!

Overall an OK stay

We arrived here for a special 60th birthday and retirement celebration, confusion from the start.... rooms that we supposed to be allocated where not. Rooms not ready for guests checkin in but other where? Had to wait for ours, so had a coffee in the bar downstairs... oh my, the poor member of bar staff. Left on her own and really not fully competent. All the customers where left waiting an age. If you wanted to pay be card, bearing in mind three drinks were about £12.00, she had to go upstairs and get the machine! The room had small standard double bed in it, but it was the bathroom that wasn’t very clean with hair in the plug holes. The receptionist Victoria started off a bit off hand then could see our plight and was actually left trying to sort out the whole party. (70 people booked for the dinner and rooms, as the event co-ordinators don’t work at weekends...). She then, after we have been told we could have the room at 3pm to decorate it, that afternoon teas have been booked till 5pm and we could start laying up and decorating the tables at 5.30pm.... the event started at 7pm.... she, Victoria, then sorted all our rooms and was a true angel. We just hope that the management try to sort communication within the departments, and if the staff aren’t happy, to vent their frustrations out of earshot of the customers. Apart from that we did have a fabulous meal and the service was very good.

User

Hotel and staff fine but sadly was unable to eat my carvery dinner due to being it being cold and after talking to other members of our party a number felt the same

User

The location and staff were lovely but afternoon tea was very very disappointing, not even a round of sandwiches, cakes were not big enough ti even taste glad i got this on a groupon offer would of complained big style if had to pay full price !! Wouldn't recommend to anyone thats for sure !!
