Where are the ten stars!!! Just amazing!! Visited on Saturday for my mum's birthday. As requested we had champagne on arrival and my flowers were on the table. They made my mum a cake which was amazing, this was presented to her by Robert. Such a lovely touch. The food is out of this world, you cannot fault anything. The staff are just lovely. I must just say an apprentice was working that evening and he was so conscientious. It is always a pleasure to go to Thompson's. Long may it stay on the Island.

What a lovely evening. My wife and I have just thoroughly enjoyed a meal here. The staff were very friendly and attentive, it’s great that they take the time to explain the dishes.

We honestly could not have asked for better service.

And then the food, just amazing. I feel absolutely spoiled after this evening.

We visited yesterday and had the taster menu with the wine absolutely outstanding. A wonderful relaxed but attentive atmosphere in the restaurant with great staff and Robert coming to talk with all the tables. You will not be disappointed ���

We visited the Isle of Wight this past weekend and went to Thompson's for the Taster Menu. Truth be told this was the main reason for our visit to the Isle as we had heard such amazing things. We were fortunate enough to sit downstairs in the middle table in front of the kitchen....what an amazing spot! The menu was incredible, each course was a winner in it's own right. Each course was presented by the chef responsible for it and it was such a great to have them explain it. We also took the wine flight with the meal....absolutely superb!! We will be back!

We sat right in front of the kitchen and were transfixed by the theatrical nature of our visit. Each course was prepared in front of us and brought to our table by the wonderful chefs who also explained the ingredients and method of cooking. We loved the little additions of goats’ milk butter, gazpacho and hand made chocolates and enjoyed the most wonderful lunch in this super and informal little restaurant. Thank you all for a brilliant experience.

We ate at Thompson's a year ago and absolutely loved it. The food and service was impeccable and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They even made a meal suitable for my little boy who has a dairy allergy and he scoffed the lot! We can't wait to return when we're next on the Isle of Wight.

This is a very special place..the tasting menu is a "must do" but the experience is really enhanced by the staff who are superb. Ask them about the food, the wine, the suppliers, the processes to make the food, they will talk to you about it... that is really special.

Step inside and you instantly forget you are in Newport centre. Welcoming staff, great service and of course, inspired food as you would expect from Robert.

It was a lovely Valentine's dinner, the foid highlights the oyster appetiser, pan-fried hake and that amazing blackberry jelly with our coffees.

We look forward to returning, and will keep our fingers crossed for a little star appearing above the door..

Simply stunning!! First ever visit to the IoW for my wife and I, and looking for places to eat. Discovered Robert Thompson's restaurant on the Tuesday for lunch, and returned on Wednesday, too. Excellent food, excellent service in an unfussy, homely atmosphere. The theatre-style kitchen is at the heart of the restaurant and creates the buzz. Highly recommend a visit to Thompson's if you are on the Wight!!

Great tasting menu. Some courses served by the chef/ patron which was special . Service staff very friendly and well informed about the food and wine .

Great place for food on the Isle of Wight. Wonderful food and service. We had the tasting menu with wine flight ... perfect!

Awesome restaurant and really gold star service. Right from the hostess to our awesome waiter and the chef coming up to us at the end of our evening to ensure we had a good meal. The food is not only beautifully presented it is extremely delicious.

An intimate restaurant with a cosy, unfussy, ambience. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable serving staff and the chef and his team working in the open kitchen downstairs are producing the most delicious food with a good selection of wines to complement the inventive menu. Not to be missed if you don't mind paying for high quality cuisine. The chef Robert Thompson merits a Michelin star for this gem of a place.

Amazing afternoon 3 course lunch, service and food was excellent and explained in detail all food that came to the table. Very accommodating in making changes to the dishes as I'm pregnant and certain parts were changed for that and felt they really understood what you could/couldn't eat without having to ask. Would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.

Absolutely superb food , Robert never fails to surprise us when we visit .

Absolutely divine! Easily in the top three of the best meals I've ever had. The tasting menu was beautiful and my favourite dishes were ones I'd never pick from a menu myself! Hubby really enjoyed the wine pairings. I'm 7months pregnant and they were so knowledgeable about what I could/couldn't eat and made alterations to the menu for me. Service was fantastic! Will definitely return and I've recommended to my family. 10/10!

A heritage treat! After a day enjoying the architectural heritage of the Isle of Wight, we went to Thompson's to enjoy some food heritage. We savoured the delights of the taster menu with the beautifully coupled wines. The food was delicious and the service impeccable, warm and friendly. Highly recommended, we will be back!
