We’ve just returned from a week here and couldn’t fault it. Matt, Lucy and the other entertainment staff were fantastic and made my little girl Evie’s birthday so special for her. We had a lodge with hot tub and the accommodation was really clean and in a lovely quiet location. We will definitely be back. Thanks again

User

Lovely place right beside the bay which was 5 minutes walk from the main amenities.we had a lovely caravan which looked liked it had be refurbished all new kitchen essentials, crockery etc.very quite park compared to others we’ve stayed.

Friendly staff always polite and prepared to help.

Nice club house with clean toilets,a lovely play area for the kids too.

Newport (main town)about 20 minutes drive.

Will definitely stay here again.

Thank you for another lovely stay.

User

Had a great time free upgrade from platinum caravan to a lodge well shocked would go back again in a few years but to the other park nearer Sandown as the beach at thorness was full of stones not good for a 5 year old

Bit other than that clean tidy and very friendly staff

The staff in the shop where great and the kids entertainment staff where brill with the disabled kids

Highly recommend

User

Absolutely loved it!!

We stayed here for 2 weeks with 3 children ages 2, 10 and 11

The caravan was lovely and clean, lots of room for parking, a small walk to the park with entertainment and boathouse

All staff were amazing,

Sophie and Simon within the arcade were very good with children interacting with them and helping anyway possible with very large amounts of people.

Jaz,Paige,Andy,Matt,Lucy and Tegan app the troopers were the heart and would of the holiday they kept the children fully entertained working all hours of the day and just doing a FANTASTIC job!

Not to mention

Sparky Sparkle Sid and Narky they made the kids days

For the last week of our holiday we spent onsite a small walk to the beach and overall a lovely place to stay

We have already booked for next year and I can see us having many more visits also

Thank you to all the staff at Thorness Bay Holiday Park for making our two weeks magical

User

Absolutely a 5 holiday for me and my new family. Caravan was excellent for our 7 month old daughter. Extra wide to allow room for a travel cot in the bedroom. The caravan was spotless on arrival. The hot water worked perfectly! Great power in the shower which is hard to come by (we've done a fair few caravan holidays to know this) The t.v. had plenty of channels for the mornings during breakfast. Overall really happy with the caravan.

All staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The food from the restaurant was good quality and tasty. Shame about the chippy not having any cod, something to do with a cod battle going on in the isle of Wight The entertainment was good for young children of ages 3+ but as for adult entertainment it wasn't the best however we didn't stay after 10pm on pretty much every night so maybe we missed something? Perhaps as it was quite quiet at the park at the moment the entertainment is reduced? Bingo was great, we actually won on our 1st night which was a massive bonus for our family! It was on quite early during tea time for us (5.30pm-6.30pm) maybe if it was later it would get more interest?

We had a great time and would highly recommend this park and facilities and we would definitely return in the future.

User

Would have been a 5 star if i hadn't ended up paying over the odds for an upgrade and ended up in a caravan that had ill fitting windows because we're a couple rather than a family!!!

A must mention on a positive note is the entertainment and especially trooper Matt, even though we didn't have children with us he made an effort to come and speak to us every night (this was a first after 3 years!) as he did with all parties in the room, he is a massive credit to the Parkdean team.

User

What I expected from a caravan park, apart from the fantastic setting on the coast and the talented and great fun entertainments team. They are the heart and soul of this place, also the lads at the pool and the lovely lady in the arcade. Would return here without question, had a great week visiting places around the Isle, Thank-you

User

Just returned from a weeks stay. Caravan was clean and tidy. One day the boiler broke down but we went out for the day and it was fixed by the time we returned. Only used the pool once which was clean and warm. We are in the restaurant once and it was really nice and reasonably priced. Great as a base but would not want to go in high season as it would be too busy.

User

Had a week's holiday end of July, there were a few issues which thorness bay helped to resolve and dealt with more when we arrived home and I spoke with manager, the park is a nice park just needs more money spent on doing it up, staff on the park are helpful polite and friendly, which is much more than I can say for head office or customer services ( except Chevon, who was great) head office messed up our booking due to not reading more fully, so we got moved to different van, there idea 3 days before we were due to arrive was to offer a full refund which takes 5-10 days to reach account, therefore upsetting 2 kids leaving us with no holiday, I must add park staff sorted this out with Chevon brilliantly so we had our holiday, once holiday over head office and customer services take ages to reply and don't try to help you, making you feel like it's a case of now we've had your money and your holiday is over we don't care, my opinion is get rid of parkdeanresorts and let thorness bay run as an individual park.

User

After an enjoyable stay at Parkdean resort Nodes point last year we decided to try another Parkdean park on the Island whilst visiting family. We have just spent 4 nights here at Thorness bay and we had a lovely break. Caravan was basic as expected. (could maybe do with abit more of a clean in some areas in caravan such as bathrooms before guests arrive. I cleaned this myself on arrival) but for a base and somewhere to sleep it met our needs. Food on site was okay. Nothing special. Chip shop closed Tuesdays and Wednesday even during peak season and had no cod.

Onsite pool also okay. Not huge but fine for short swim/play and a slide for older children.

A nice outside play area with some picnic benches set to one side and up on the balcony of the boathouse bar so you can sit and have something to eat or drink whilst the children play.

The beach/bay is within walking distance but it’s not sandy or really for swimming in. Nice walk though.

What made the holiday for us though was the entertainment. The Troupers were super friendly and the children loved the Starland Crew. Well done team x

User

Lovely place some of the staff are nice then you all ways meet that one that don't smile or look happy but nice lovely caravans lovely views play area was very nice for kids

The food in the bar was nice but expensive for what you get its not a bestro and when you order a mixed grill you will be shocked when it arives a child of 5 can finish the mixed grill easy and the chip shop on site was useless tyres to use it and both times ether they run out of cod or a lot of other things and it's not even a bizy season not many people on site so we went out for food in the end.

The towlet in complex was disgusting wee and poo all over the place towlet seats broke had to keep going back to caravan so there not very good.

Well recommend jades garden chinese will deliver to reception on site very nice food from there.

Would I go again? Yes but in mind not to use the onsite restrooms and food as these a lot of work needed there but the rest was very nice

Biggest let down was the on site restrooms and the price and size of meals on site.

User

Well what can I say that hasn’t been said already!!

Stayed for a week, booked 3 vans for 2 families of 4, and a van for 1, all 3 vans were dirty and smelly,

Marks on most of the bedding, dirty plates and cutlery, and food left in 1 cupboard from the last guests-so excellent clearing standards!!

All the vans were cold and felt damp.

couldn’t park near our vans as there is no allocated parking and there was so much mud that getting to our vans was a nightmare.

The swimming pool is timed sessions(45mins) but when one session gets out the next can come in which caused so much chaos as there wasn’t enough changing rooms.

The sparkle shop was only open twice for the whole week we stayed and when it was open there was barely any stock in there for the children to choose from.

And as for the character dolls- they had ran out of stock!! So your children fall in love with them on stage and parents can’t even buy any!!

Chip shop was closed several times too.

Definitely won’t be returning.

Good luck to anyone that stays there.

User

We decided to do a last minute break the caravan was meant to be new on park.when we arrived the caravan looked v nice and glimpse of the sea.Sadly that's where it ends inside the caravan cobwebs v dusty dirty sauce pans I'm not sure it had been cleaned and beds not made big spiders took over bedroom.Reception moved us to another unit and that had guest in it so back to security gave us another key and that had guest in it too back to security and we found a unit security checked it out and that had not been cleaned and stank of pee.so we ended up back at first unit and oh boy my asthma is playing up not happy bunny

I felt sorry for the security guard he was trying his best and the list of spare units was wrong as they had people in

User

The holiday was ok. Clean caravan however evening entertainment stuck in the 90’s. on the day of departure we nipped out to come back to the caravan at 9.30am to find two cleaners inside when we hadn’t even checked out spoke to the woman when checking out wasn’t bothered. The pool is more like a large bath. Perfect holiday when not on the campsite

User

Smaller then expected, literally just big enough for 4 people. Very little storage may sleep 4 but storage is more for 2-3 people! No towel rail in bathroom took 3-4 days for them to install one! EVERY bit of kitchenware needed re washing before use all greasy n dusty n dirty. Only large knives for chopping in draw and all utensils felt a bit flimsy. Fridge is very small for self catering had shelves missing - probably to encourage you to use on-site restaurant. Shower has no caddy or mat so bring your own! No toilet brush provided! Master bedroom window was locked! WiFi is available for whole site as long as you pay for it and it's not worth it, even after paying £27 for 7 nights of WiFi it was weak, unreliable n not same strength throughout tiny chalet, my husband sat outside for the best signal! WiFi only free at restaurant but not always easy to connect to and still unreliable! The boathouse restaurant: overpriced for what you get! Cooked well but you don't get veg with the mains - or at least not the mains we got! My main didn't even come on a plate it came in a wooden slated tray with a paper lining! No coke on pump first couple days there as no gas yet lemonade on the pump was available? Major wasp problem throughout the park they were at every tree and bin! Children LOVED the outdoor play area! We didn't use our entertainment passes for shows, pool or sport facilities. On-site shop open 8am-8pm good range for a small shop convenience store meets gift shop! Launderette onsite is a nice touch but doesn't provide any means of cleaning bits so bring your own, costs bout the same as one back home. Other then a mix up by giving me wrong accommodation booking the staff at reception were friendly as were the staff in the restaurant and shop. You get what you paid for doesn't really apply I expected a bit more for my money! We won't be back to this resort not sure if we'll use this company again either. Isle of Wight is a great place to visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our day trips and excursions but we didn't enjoy our time in the holiday home and used every excuse to stay out!

User

Location was beautiful, boathouse staff and entertainment team was absolutely brilliant and friendly. Reception hardly ever had people in it. Sales manager reece was a massive help and went above and beyond to help. But, problems with the caravan from day 1, no hot water, sinks backing up and overflowing so couldn't shower, took them 5 days to finally come and fix (had to drag two young children to the camping showers to wash) house keeping left soiled bedding outside our caravan for 4 days. And complaints and requests that were made for help went unanswered for 5 days. Absolutely poor customer service. Will be taking it further.

User

I think the site is ridiculous when it comes to touring and camping currently on a gravel pitch with a drain in the middle of the awning!hard to keep the awning safe due to not being able to get pegs Into the ground ( forgot we needed to bring a spare Jack hammer ). Due to a customer relations mix up we did have to wait a while for our pitch to become available which was not the be all or end all to be honest but couldn't go unnoticed when sitting in the sales office for two hours than every static caravan complaint were treated with priority including upgrades moves meal voucher and some refunds! So if your staying in a static the more than welcome if touring or camping I would 100000% look else where to stay ! ( unless you like being crammed on like a tin of sardines 1)

User

Decided to give this site another go after an awful experience last year. We were touring this year so didn’t think it would be anything like the accommodation we stayed in previous. The pitch we were allocated was being reserved for someone else so we were put on a mud patch, it was so uneven and had tire tracks all through it, that within 5 minutes of arriving my youngest son had tripped over it and cut his knee. In all fairness, security came out and agreed that any drop of rain we had, our van would sink in the mud. So we got moved to our original pitch. Unfortunately this wasn’t passed on to reception, so the next day when the other group arrived and found us on the pitch number they also had allocated it was quite awkward. Luckily the other group had a tent and we explained we had an early ferry the next morning, so the other half of their party could have our pitch from us. Not the sort of thing you want to have to be sorting out when you’ve only come away for a couple of nights. The entertainment for the kids was really good, and the kids loved that. Our dinner in the boathouse however was awful. We waited nearly an hour for 4meals, where only one of them was edible. The children’s meal my youngest son got was the worst. Really really disappointed with our weekend away yet again. Such a shame as have stayed at other park resorts on the Island and had a lovely time.

User

People should be made aware that campers on your IOW site are reporting an infestation of rats and when they complain and ask for a refund you are denying all responsibility!

Disgusting!

Really really disappointed with our weekend away yet again. Such a shame as have stayed at other park resorts on the Island and had a lovely time.

People should be made aware that campers on your IOW site are reporting an infestation of rats and when they complain and ask for a refund you are denying all responsibility!

Disgusting!
