Three Wise Monkeys Colchester

Wow after watching that tv ad for visiting Colchester we saw this venue , we thought we Will try this one when we go to town , well we did and what lovely food, friendly staff, amazing cocktails so relaxing too Thank you,.

What a lovely way to spend a lunchtime catch up with a friend. Having worked in hospitality as a nightclub manager and numerous retail management positions I can clearly recognise excellent customer service from the friendly staff. Great selection of draft Beers and Ciders to accompany high quality food. It was also nice not to be drowned out by blaring music. You could actually hold a conversation. Will definitely go back next time I visit my friend in Colchester.

Tried here for the first time today for lunch with friends. We were very impressed with both service and the food. Would visit again and recommend.

Tonight is my last night as head doorwomen at 3 wise monkeys.

I just want to shout out to all the lovely staff there you have all made me feel welcome and part of the 3 wise monkeys family. You all work so hard and more people should come along and have alook at the amazing hard job you all do over the amazing 4 floors i Will miss you all ���

Really good Rum and Caribbean food evening. Staff were friendly and engaging, going abcd with accommodating an unannounced vegetarian in our group brilliantly.

It was our first time at the Three Wise Monkeys and it was great , restaurant was really nice,staff welcoming and food was great �

Had are works party there last night was a great night

A brilliant place, a real jewel in the crown of Colchester. If it had been open when Boudicca sacked Colchester she would have saved the monkees!

decent place plenty of gins just gets well busy so you have to stand up instead of chill on the sofas

Good chooice of gins but served in basic tumbler glasses marked with glass washer residue. Tonic was taken from under the bar not the fridge so not cold enough Staff female member quite abrupt and

uninterested when advising us on what was available.

Nicer Gin bars in other pubs but liked the atmosphere in the cellar, apart from the staff.

After being rudely turned away from the crapheap known as Sloppy Joes a few doors down, my girlfriend and I decided to try The Three Wise Monkeys. Considering it was bank holiday Monday, at peak lunchtime, and we hadn't booked, we were seated immediately by a friendly waitress.



Amazing selection of beers. I tackled the 24 piece chicken platter, while my girlfriend had a chilli dog. Really good chicken wings, which came in 3 different forms and with 3 delicious sauces. Girlfriend enjoyed her chilli dog too.



Only negative was that it seemed that there was only one poor girl serving the entire upstairs floor. You need more staff!!



Princes are a bit on the London side of high, but personally I'm willing to pay a bit more for great food and decent beer in a quirky setting.



Will certainly be visiting again.

The bar itself is a good place to go to.

However a few of the staff I experienced last night perhaps need to go to anger management and/or a customer service course. Two girls last night from behind the bar picked an arguement with me swearing and being abusive. Luckily I just shrugged it off. Absolutely still in shock this morning. So just beware if you do go in there on a Saturday night for a lil cocktail you might have to deal with more than you bargained for ��

Lovely place when you walk in, however there was only one person behind the bar, I waited for ages to be served (after someone who arrived after us...) no smile when I was served, and had a lovely view of a huge pile of dirty cups and glasses.

Decided to visit for Saturday lunch. Could have done with the heating being turned up a notch or two, waited a long time for a cold coffee and luke warm food 😥

Turn up at 7 ask for prosecco, offered warm bottle, offer to pay for a bottle to be chilled, can't but they will chill a bottle, ask for prosecco at 9:11 offered warm bottle as the chilled one sold, ridiculous for a town centre pub night, don't bother, won't be returning

Really poor experience this weekend for a friend's 30th birthday - A prebooked surprise meal by his wife. Was an incredibly busy night for the staff clearly I'll give them that.

However, food took 1 hour 30 minutes to get to the table. Arrived in dribs and drabs, one starter brought out a good 30 minutes before the rest of the food if not more for 1 individual out of 10+ of us. Some aspects of the order completely missed such as sides and extras. One individuals meal completely missed off, by the time he got it everyone else had finished their meals. Ordered extra drinks whilst waiting for everyone's food initially, were completely forgotten, these drinks weren't brought over until I complained to staff about the wait time for the drinks and food. Staff didn't update us at any point as to why food was taking so long. Offered a crap discount to make up for this of 10%, shortly increased to 15% after the individual whose birthday it was complained further at this offer. The rest of birthday arrangements had to be cancelled because the meal took so damn long.

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, service so poor that it over shadowed the quality of the food.
