Thrifty Car And Van Rental Aylesbury

Hired a van for 24hrs from Thrifty. Went in on Friday afternoon and paid up front on my debit card as expected. £555 including the deposit. All good.
Took the van back on Saturday morning, no further charges and the staff were very friendly and professional.
However, and it’s a big however. It is now Tuesday and I still haven’t received my £500 deposit via bank transfer.
I was expecting to hand over my bank card when I returned the van so my deposit could be given back. The member of staff explained that it would be given back “eventually” via bank transfer.

I’m sure Thrifty are making a tidy sum from the interest from all their customers money.

The staff were great, and couldn’t be more friendly or helpful. The van was almost brand new and was exactly what I needed. It’s a shame as I will not be using Thrifty again and I am busy telling all my friends and colleagues about my experience.

Enjoy the interest from my deposit, you won’t be getting it again!

Fantastic service from Thrifty. They understood my needs and budget criteria and provided a car that met both. The service I received from Alex and his team was excellent and nothing was too much trouble even when I needed to extend the car hire.

We booked a car online for a weekend getaway a couple of weeks ago only to be told on collection that they didn't have the size we'd booked so could pay more for an upgrade or take a smaller car that they claimed was in the same group but I showed them their website which clearly showed it wasn't! Ended up taking the smaller car and as we have car hire insurance through our bank decided against the excess reduction, returned the car and were told that there was a small scratch on the roof and we would be charged £250, this is now in the hands of our bank!

Staff and value. Beats other car rental companies and I've tried them all!

Avoid. Always a last option if no where else is hiring. We rent cars regularly, thrifty are literally trying to con people, have no regard for legal sales, beware of Laura she constantly tries to sell people unwanted insurance for wear and tear and claims a screen chip could rapidly expand. Oh and the usual, it's not you as a driver - it's other people...
when you take the vehicle back they go round it with a fine tooth comb to try and catch people out.
When I rent cars from here the manager seems very relaxed and totally chilled, when I took the car back he was practically getting a magnifying glass out to check everything, I even had a taxi waiting! Ridiculous.

Amazing service. I was late by almost one hour and they did not charge me extra. In fact kept the office open after office hours (until 18:10) so that I don't get charged for an additional day. Thrifty is the best car hire in Aylesbury

Terrible service, be wary of a blonde at the till by the name of lauren i believe, who tried to upsell a cdw waiver to my partner on the basis​ of whether she gets a stone chip she will be charged many pounds an lose her deposit, my partner unaware who was just about to pay extra was then informed by me that stone chips are wear an tear an when confronting the lady at the till that she should be clear that stone chips are not chargeable she began to stutter an back track at that point that if the stone chip is bigger then 2 cm only then you would be charged bla bla bla (have you ever seen a stone chip that is 2 cm?? Lol that's more like a brick chip haha!) We kindly took our money an left an went to eurocar up the road who we happily rent from now on a regaular basis who which btw have never ever used dirty selling tactics to make a quick buck off an uniformed female like my partner who doesnt know much about cars so ladies of Aylesbury be careful when you go thrifty as you might just be paying extra when you dont need to!

By far the Best car and van rental outlet in Aylesbury. Excellent customer service and well presented quality vehicles.
