Hello and welcome to Thrives Atoms!
My name is Lynne, thrives atom snacks are a result of the inspiration and positivity which came out of my diagnosis and treatment of stomach cancer, “Sometimes bad things have to happen before good things can. ” Becca Fitzpatrick, Crescendo. In March 2014 the doctor advised me that I had a cancerous tumour in my stomach which would need surgery to remove it. The news literally changed my life in a way that I never thought was possible at the time. The surgeon advised that some gall stones were found along with the cancerous tumour, so as he put it, “I may as well whip out your gall bladder while I’m in there”. Less than 4 weeks after my initial diagnosis I went under the knife, however this was just the beginning. While the operation had been a success, it was agreed I would take a course of chemotherapy as a precautionary measure. The chemotherapy which followed the operation was honestly much worse - I felt constantly sick, was in chronic pain, lost weight, admitted back in to hospital after every course and all my hair fell out - I'm happy to report that it has now grown back better than ever.
It took me nearly a year to recover from the treatment and it was during this year that I had to seriously think about my diet. After the operation I am now left with only 1 /5 of my stomach, this means that I really have to make each mouthful of food count to get all of the nutrients and goodness possible in such a small intake of food to leave me feeling nourished. Up until this point in my life I'd be a self confessed cake and biscuit fiend, with little interest in healthy nutrient rich snacks. This time I had no choice, I was in survival mode, and I didn't want to just survive, I wanted to be in the best health possible, the whole experience showed me how precious life is, and that food is our body's fuel!
After the chemo, when I was starting to feel stronger, the research started for a product to give me the burst of goodness and nutrients I needed to build my health and wellbeing. I couldn't find anything that exactly fit my needs and decided to make my own power snacks; this is how Thrives Atoms were born. After many different recipes, shapes, sizes, a rigorous testing and tasting campaign, I finally came up with recipes that I am delighted with. I can honestly say these have been a god send to me - knowing that I'm giving my body the right fuel without neglecting the taste.
The Thrives Atoms are for everyone, they have been a huge hit with those who have helped shape the product, with amazing feedback about how great they taste, to the high quality and specially selected ingredients used, and the ease in which they can be carried on the go. I have developed a great interest in a balanced, sustainable diet that provides your body with the necessary nutrients to run efficiently on a day to day basis, this does not have to come at the detriment of taste and we hope our product can contribute to such a diet.
