If you were forced to leave home what would you take with you? A question raised by artist Diala Brisly, who organised an art workshop for Tints of Resilience exhibition.
“What I would take with me is myself, my values and what I can do. Being deaf, I value those abilities which I do have, my sight, the ability to talk, to feel and I carry this in my work with a lot of disabled people who don’t have those abilities”. Mark Bushell

Let the letters migrate and tell thousand stories! Live Calligraphy performance in continuation of "Migrating Letters" artwork installation by Ghaleb Hawila at "Tints of Resilience" exhibition. The verses painted on the wall are extracts from "My Friends" by Lebanese poet Elia Abu Madi:
In Ghouta I am flowers and dew... In Lebanon a yearning for what I knew In your faces, a light I see Shining from the hills of my country I see ghosts of years gone In struggle, strife, and loss I see shadows of a time to come Like the sun rising from behind a veil

In Tints of Resilience we will explore Diala Brisly’s journey through asylum and survival in Europe, Anas Albraehe’s coping with the loss of his mother, Ghassan Ismail Art II’s use of calligraphic letters to reclaim the loss of his archives in Deir ez Zor... and Nour’s - Ghassan Ismail’s eleven year old daughter - own artwork , that shows a sweet optimism that touches our inner child. We will experience Nour Huda’s brilliant portrayal of the struggle between society and self.... We will see the world of little Zoubeyda a refugee child through the lens of Margaux Chalançon. We will read the story of Safia by Zeina Kanawati and vividly Illustrated by Dima Nachawi ( who also did an amazing job in illustrating Tints of Resilience theme) We will hear the story of Nujoud and her moon brought to life through video by filmmaker Ayman Nahle We will also follow collaborative works done by the children at the camps - moments captured by Youssef Rached Doughan in “Wall of Dreams”, in words brought to life through calligraphy by Ghaleb Hawila in “Migrating Letters”, and the work of the children themselves.
This exhibition is dedicated to them. On behalf of myself, the artists, and the children - Thank you all for coming!

In a world where hatred, hardship, and greed has filled people's lives, lighting a candle is far more gracious than cursing the darkness. Be the change you want to see and help your fellow man.
