its a lovely building and ill be taking the kids there soon it is nice to see medieval history still in our area there are some good boards there telling you of the history and how the building came to exist.hope it will stand for many years to come, so the children of tomorrow have something to learn about

What a lovely grand building! I live just outside of Portsmouth and only just discovered this beautiful Abbey. I love history and this has so much of it being built in the 1200s. Its a shame that most of the original Abbey didn't survive the renovations in the 1500s but it's still a beautiful building. I would recommend that this is sign post to this location as this can be easily missed if you don't know where to look.

Also, the English heritage should do some events here as there is the space and history to do this, they defientely need to make this Abbey more known.

The Abbey is a place i pass nearby regular. I decided to actually visit it and looked around in awe of what was there. Should have visited years ago. Highly recommend you visit

Love this place, so much history on our door step. Beautiful architecture, however like all these palaces built for the church it shows how much money was squandered on such buildings at a time when the money could have better served the community.

All that said, the grounds are a wonderful haven of peace & tranquility and it's just a lovely place to unfurl a picnic blanket and relax.
