About Tobie Norris

Three stories of pub gold dust. A beautifully renovated 11th century building, the Tobie is an ever-charming pub offering good food, real ale & fine wine.

Tobie Norris Description

Welcome to the Tobie Norris, a Knead pub since 2006 but built in 1280. Packed full of history, the Tobie Norris is an enchanting, three-story pub with casual dining areas, function rooms, a lively bar, conservatory and sheltered terraced garden. Quirky through-and-through, the Tobie Norris is well known for it’s charming atmosphere, fantastic beverages and delicious dishes.

Enjoy supping one of our fine real ales: Adnams’ Best Bitter, Castle Rock’s Harvest Pale Ale or one of our three carefully selected guest ales. Or if wine is more your thing, you can take your pick from our impressive selection of wines from around the world. You can even take home a bottle of Harrington’s Gin, which is distilled locally in Northamptonshire!

And whilst you’re enjoying your beverages, why not tuck into one of our tasty dishes, cooked by our brilliant chefs using locally sourced produce wherever possible? Enjoy our delicious Wasabi chicken or tuck in to a hearty Lincoln Red Beef Bourguignon pie. The ingredients on your plate may even have come from our very own Tallington farm just five miles away.

Please note: Our building is very (very! ) old: there are steep staircases, uneven floors and open fires. It does add to our charm but regrettably it means only children over the age of 10 are permitted during lunchtimes (12pm-2. 30pm). At all other times, the Tobie Norris operates an over 21s policy.

Wow what great food. Large portion of well cooked tasty food at a fair price. Served in a unique way, I great time by helpful and attentive staff.

Great pub with a huge range of food and drink. I happily 100% recommend this place.

User

What a beautiful old hostelry with loads of character. Fine cask ales for my husband and a good selection of quality wine for me. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive.

User

The food was excellent, the wait staff was friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was very nice. You had your pick of where to sit, whether it was in the pub in a dark room, a brighter room, or outside on the patio in the shade or in the sun. We’re from Nashville, TN, USA, and for us, it was a lovely experience. I even enjoyed my “take away” the next day and it was still wonderful as well. Thanks so much.

The Tobie Norris was the most fabulous place to spend New Year's Eve: incredible food, lovely atmosphere and as always a friendly and attentive Tobie team, going out of their way to ensure vegetarian options were in abundance. It truly was a magical evening, thank you to the Tobie team for looking after us so well

User

Just a great place to eat and drink, the atmosphere is great and I get to meet some different friends every time I pop in. The bar staff are friendly and they welcome dogs of all breeds I just think it's a great place to hang out. Jp.

When I booked for NYE so wanted to be on the ground floor. Sadly on the top floor, food as always brilliant but drink service to tables would have been good for those not on wine as a fair wait at the bar but could have been worse. As we were on the top floor when it came to pudding we had to point out that other tables had got more than us, this should never have been questionable, port was like vinegar. Sadly some of the waiting staff were rather rude by the time they got to us. We left before midnight as did many from our floor. Great food but the rest lacking :-( not your normal standard I'm afraid.

User

Really lovely pub with loads of character and different little rooms. Went for some drinks with some friends and had a pleasant evening apart from one very rude, blunt barmaid. It's a shame because the rest of the staff were lovely and she let the service down massively. We even witnessed her being pretty horrid to another young lad working there!

Apart from that, it is a nice place!

User

NYE seeing in 2017, food was very good and plentiful but unfortunately this is as good as it gets. Booked tickets for the night including live music only to be placed on the top floor with an atmosphere that could best be described as "intimate" where the distant drone of the live music was further ruined by the continuous piped music over the room speakers. Add to that a 4ft waitress that was as abrupt, snappy and pleasant as a jack Russel that has just chewed a wasp we amongst most of the top floor left at or before 11pm.

User

Great food, best fish & chips I’ve had in ages. I asked a member of the bar staff for the WiFi code & she mumbled “ it’s on display at the bar” - shame it was too much effort for her to retain it or offer to get it. Grumpy staff let the side down.

User

Food and atmosphere are a 4 out of 5. Lovely place to sit for a few hours with friends!

Room for improvement though as I think that the food is too expensive for a restaurant which doesn't offer table service, which I would expect for paying £17 for a main. Also not being able to book a table in advance is not ideal! Otherwise great experience. 👍

User

Absolutely great pub-food superb & just great for our pooch too.
