the food was great didnt have to wait long and we had pudding that was great.the service from staff was excellent.it was a family treat as kids was on half term.we had a great time and would deffanly go away.just wish they do some sort of money off vochers

We normally go to the Toby in Watford but parking is an issue. Visited Hemel Toby and found the food was even better. Absolutely enjoyed every bit.

Couldn’t fault it! Nice pint, great service staff were lovely! Food was great only niggle is grease in the Yorkshire pudding as if the bottom hasn’t been cooked properly but still lovely !

Came back yesterday for the first time in ages as had 4/5 bad ones so decided not to go back. Was absolutely lovely..only downside is never got seen by a waitress untill we were nearly finished to ask if we wanted a drink

Went for breakfast and on a whole it was nice, the only problem was the bacon and the Yorkshires had obviously been left under the heat lamp for too long and were both inedible, we ordered some vegetarian sausages and they arrived promptly and nicely cooked and everything else was very nice, I will definitely be coming back but I hope you can get the bacon and Yorkshire problem sorted, (maybe cooking little and often) thank you.

The carvery was probably the best I've had from this chain and my two young boys loved it too. The only thing that let it down was the customer service. All in all, not bad though.

Not much that can go wrong with a roast dinner really. Everything was hot and looked nice, staff were pleasant and attentive. Food was tasty. Job done.

Meal was nice but the staff were busy as it was Sunday.Everything like the meat was being dumped on the plate after being sliced leaving it looking unappetising. Would still go back but would say something next time but was with friends.

Joint birthday � treat Booked a table for carvery 12 pm when we got there was told there was an issue they were behind about 30mins , the veg came out and we waited and waited then the meats came out and we still waited a chef came out and said we have an issue with the hob re gravy so I asked if we could have carvery without gravy as the food veg had been on the hot plate for at least 20 mins yeah we were getting nearer, the meat was very small portions the veggies were not hot we were so hungry we ate , the waitress asked if all was ok we said no so she said we could have ice cream free ok thankyou and 20% off then the manager came out and said ice cream was not available due to issue with machine what else could go wrong today jeez so had a dessert from the menu that didn't include ice cream � come on Toby not sure about 20% off think that should have been free all of it

Having been seated, we were told we would have to wait an hour for meat. What we had was nice. The waitress Shannon could not have been nicer or more helpful - thank you. However, the place was dirty and don't use the far corner table by the window as it is full of flies.

Dirty tables manager on his phone rather than dealing with customers all chef hiding out the back had to wait ten mins before got meat cut no meat gravy no mint sauce service was appalling saying that food was good and after manager finished playing on phone he bought out fresh gravy and mint sauce I'd say give it a wide berth there's plenty more places far better to eat

Been a few times and normally a pleasant experience. However staff swearing to each other (mulitple times) in ear shot of our young son and other children in the restaurant, find some professionalism!

Arrived a little after 9.30am. Wasn't busy.

Several of the servings were empty. Spent nearly 10 minutes for fried and scrambled eggs as well as bacon. Each coming out sparaducally while food already plated was going cold. Kitchen was not keeping up on demand leaving one front assistant taking the flack. No clean small plates for the toast and half hour later, customers were still complaining about having long waits for items of food to be cooked. Sadly the service here has deteriorated since I had eaten there last.

poor service, long delays between starter, main & 35 min delay until dessert. Main course was not hot either...drove all the way from London as dad lives in St Albans......wouldnt go there again !!

Very busy,Upto hour wait with a disabled person, no staff to serve us, had to get own cutlery and food, could have walked out with out paying as no one was interested until we asked for the bill, even expected a tip but had to serve ourselves all night

Sorely disappointed in the service we recieved today. Despite not being busy our drinks took an age to arrive (6 refill glasses and a beer) and one of the empty glasses was filthy. Some of the cutlery from our half set table was dirty so we had to take from another half set table nearby. There was no turkey and one of our party had the last slither of beef -seriously the tiniest little bit of beef i ever saw. There was also no peas but i did like the addition of sweetcorn, probably the only positive of our visit! After we had finished eating it took a long time to get the plates cleared and we simply gave up on pudding because of how long everything was taking. The guys on the next table were asked for their drinks order again and it was only 2 beers. We had to go to the counter to get our bill as we were fed of with waiting. One girl was trying but i felt that the others were not backing her up or working as a team

The worst part though was the state of the mens toilets. My husband quietly mentioned that they were all blocked to a member of staff before we ate and yet they were left uncleaned and my son had to endure them after we had eaten. It actually made him feel sick!

It is also really disappointing that a carvary can run out of meat when this is precisely why people come. There was a sign on the door saying sorry no meat as we left around 8.15.

I wouldnt usually complain so publicly but i tried to do so via the website and it just says that a secure connection cannot be made when clicking anything on the contact us page.

This meal was to celebrate my husband and friends birthdays. We certainly wont be back in a hurry.

Recently came here as a group of 6 the service was lovely however the food wasn't plus their vegetarian options was rubbish 1 guest had the meat free carvery with very hard dry veggies.

It seems to be a theme but the service was poor and because it was a snack after a meeting we weren't going to create a fuss. The waitress gave a third off without being asked, that sort of spoke volumes.

Christmas Day meal at Hemel Hempstead was quite disappointing to be honest, long waiting times for starters and drinks as it looked like were were very short staffed. Main meal was good although I would say that it wasn't as good as you get on a normal Sunday when the food is always excellent.

What a mess.... nothing like it should be. A warm slop of cream, no passion fruit sauce, the smallest amount of meringue, I couldn't find any mixed in. This was one the worst pudding I have had. Nothing like I have had before. I would say who ever made it needs to learn how to whip cream and how to make a simple pudding. Worst ever.... avoid

Visited your Hemel Hempstead branch today with my family and was so disappointed. We usually go to your Stevenage restaurant which we love. The waitresses were grumpy and unhelpful, the tables and menus were grubby and sticky, the cutlery was dirty. The drinks machine was dispensing what smelled like discinfectant and the waitresses response was I think the Pepsi max is ok and walked off. Only 2 selection of meats was available. It was gross in there.

We ordered pudding 3 were ok but the chocolate cherry torte which is meant to be served with cream or ice cream came out on a chipped wooden plate. When mentioned to the waitress she just shook her shoulders and walked off. All the staff were disinterested and didn’t care about the customers. I’m gutted I paid the bill. What a rip off.

Will not be returning there it’s a dirty unprofessional hole.

The service was appalling the waiter spent more time talking and ignoring our requests and had to ask him several times for drinks and to take orders and for cutlery twice as both waiter and waitress ignored us. Extremely poor experience at this branch. I visited the Bussey branch earlier in the week and service was so much better and responsive. Will not be using this one again!

Manager had a melt down shouting ffing and blinding at customers. He had zero organisation and was whining at the customers who had been waiting for almost an hour he hasn't enough staff.... totally crazy and terrible shoddy run place

I am sorry to say that I would not go here again.....After being seated we waited a full 30 mins for our starters with my prawns arriving before my husbands mushrooms, we actually decided to leave just as his arrived! The excuse given for the delay was chef in training, however the prawns was served on limp lettuce and rock hard tomatoe and more sauce then prawns and mango. The waitress was nice enough but unkempt, this gave the impression that cleanleness was not important to the overall impression of the building. The table was sticky and not laid properly and this was at a quiet time as only 4 or 5 tables where occupied. As I have said we had decided to leave and although one member of staff was very appologetic even though things were beyond her control, and we did not pay for the drinks we had or the starters I felt that they were really not bothered that much by the fact we walked out. Sorry 0-10 from me

Dont waste your time going to Toby carvery on industrial estate... weve just popped i went and got my kids dinner, my husband got the king size... his yorkshires were flat like they had been stood on, he got 1.5 sausages so had to ask for the other half of his sausage �... ive gone to get my dinner to hear from person infront they had run out of yorkshire puddings and wernt making no more�

I wanted the king size told the waitress i wasnt happy paying the extra for 2 sausages and nit getting what the meal entailed... her reply was she didnt know what to suggest the she said she would speak to her manager about what he could do so we agreed yet 20min on waitress keeps walking past the table and manager hasnt come over... so im without a dinner whilst kids and hubby have eaten

Call me old fashioned but I prefer my food hot plus I don't expect the young waiter to find it highly amusing when I bought the poor quality to his attention !

Approx 1 yr ago this was one of the best Toby's to visit, a dude called Denis used to run the carvey but latest management at the branch is a total tosser, the dude serving can't even speak English let alone cut up the meat after removing the string, place needs a revamp of staff the food is shocking and we even walked out a few days back... shame cause we used to visit 2-3 times per week now we avoid the branch and visit kings Langley instead... get Denis back to sort out the branch as it's destroying the high level of service the branch used to hold...
