About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Poole, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Poole's favourite carvery restaurant.

Went and got 2 king size plates for my partner and myself which we qued for a short amount of time, food was delicious, hot and very tasty. Got bill straight away after finished food . Would recommend coming here anytime

There are two Toby Carveries within reach of my home - Fleetsbridge-Toby and Northbourne-Toby, both of which are excellent. Yesterday I went with a group of ladies from Mum's WI (Women's Institute - Creekmoor and Oakdale) - and Mum herself of course - to the Fleetsbridge Toby Carvery on Wimborne Road, where I had a glass of white wine (Chardonnay) with my meal. There is a choice of 4 different types of meat: gammon, pork, beef or turkey. Yesterday, I chose beef and gammon, together with a giant(!) Yorkshire pudding, red cabbage, peas, carrots, stuffing, roast potatoes (2), potato slices in a white sauce and gravy, plus a spoonful of horseradish sauce, also one of cranberry sauce. After I'd downed that gorgeous meal, it was time for a pudding to follow, so I opted to the Munchies ice cream sundae. No, it was Friday, yesterday - know what I mean? The ice cream sweet came with a fan wafer and mint leaf on the top, loads of Devon cream drizzled over with chocolate sauce/toffee sauice and the Munchie chocolates. About 7 of the little beauties all told. After I finished my sweet, I left £20 with my Mum to cover my costs and left Fleetsbridge-Toby, waving goodbye to him as I walked out of his car park. His brother, Northbourne is just as lovely! Same sort of food, same procedure for ordering - a waiter/waitress comes to your table and takes your order then you queue up for the carvery, if it is your intention to opt for the carvery. There are alternatives but not very many. Also there are vegetarian and vegan alternatives for those who are not meat-eaters. To sum up, Toby Carvery is a lovely pub and I could recommend Fleetsbridge-Toby and Northbourne-Toby very highly indeed, both are excellent!

The waitress who served us at 1745 yesterday should be thanked on how she coped under pressure due to it being a busy shift, (very polite and attentative). Food, drink, desert and service 5*.

User

I went with my partner yesterday Sunday the 29th and it was lovely, the staff are always friendly and very helpful and the food was really good , the price is great too, We've been a couple of times and always enjoy it there

User

Often frequent here. The food is always good. The staff can be a bit good and bad I've had trips where staff are attentive.. and trips here where I felt like the only way to get their attention is to shout and wave. However I have always been happy to come again.

User

Meal was lovely. Service a little slow but it's busy. My only gripe... you send out vouchers and offers but then you can't use them. I had a lovely glass of mothers day wine to then discover my loyalty app wouldn't work!

User

It was delicious service was good, food was good too, potatoes weren’t completely cooked but the rest was good.

User

limited menu but friendly helpful staff. Left big tip

User

The roast was as lovely as ever. However my friend ordered pigs in blankets which the waiter forgot about. She asked twice before he brought them out burnt to a cinder.. You would need a dental appointment for sure if you ate them.. The service at the bar was non exsistant & the toilets are absolutely disgusting.. I read a post from october in which you state you are re- vamping them.. Hmmm not sure thats entirely true is ?

User

Not good food was cold and measly surving of meat did not help. Also attitude of guy serving the meat was not good..

User

Check the salt and pepper people. Our salt had rust in it and was so damp the holes were completely blocked. Removed the lid to find it was rusty inside. Not nice and obviously hadn't been checked for a very long time.

Picture of the rusted lid and salt in comments

User

There was a lack of plates, bread and

Sausages. They said 5 minutes wait for the sausages 15 minutes later they were ready. The lack of plates meant that plates were coming out cold and wet. Not great when you’re constantly asking for things when it should be topped up. Heard a lot of people also asking for the same things so this was happening thoughout the time we were here.

User

If you don't want a carvery I would not go to a Toby in future. Colleagues had a Cold meat sandwich with a side of hot gravy and a roast potato!? Or the outstanding COLD Yorkshire pudding wrap. Wrapped around meat and a roast spud!!!!! I ordered salad. Waaay too much vinegary dressing and tasteless tomatoes. Sorry Toby you need to try a bit harder away from the hotplate. The service was good and the staff good. Unfortunately the menu isn't great for a works lunch.

User

We were happily sat having a lovely family meal with a good laugh when our server Jasmine gave us our bill when we had only just got our dessert! She then came back and asked if we needed the card machine (yes while we were still eating) we didn't see her again as she never came near us until I pulled out my AA discount where she said to another server "this table is doing my head in" yes we saw you!! Never in my life have I been hinted to get out of a place like that! Kinda put a dampner on the night! Crap crap service Toby!

User

This had to be the worst meal out experience ever. We arived at 5.00 pm went straight in and was seated straight away .it then took over 10 minutes to get served for a drink then 15 min to get to ask to order food as my youngest will only eat pasta we ordered and waited 5 minutes or so before we went to que so the meals would be ready about the same time. We had finished a large kingsize and my 11 year old had also polished of an adult size plate of food before the pasta which Is only nuked . we tried many times to get the waitress attention but she seemed to at social club the way she was chatting, messing and even dancing with the other staff even the with what I assume would be the manager .eventually she came and took our plates and asked if we wanted pudding I said yes please can I have a desert menu. 10 minutes later she asked if we had chosen I then mentioned that I did ask for a menu as none could be seen around us she the through one on the table and here try this one rudely .this is appalling behaviour even my 7 year old said that's not nice daddy she forgets my dinner then chucks the menue at you all in all this went on for 1 hour and 45 minutes we come here quiet often we are normally in and out in less than 45 . I won't be rushing back any time soon .

User

The service was totally appalling today, there was no plates and when they eventually come out they was cold and wet! There was also a long wait for food to come out meaning there was long queues because of this! There was no bread and we had to ask twice for some and the bread came out freezing cold.. Also we heard other customers ask for bread too, there was no top up of the sauce pots, many customers was complaining about the same thing! The service was shocking and has put me off coming back! Definitely 1 star is justified after all the waiting!

User

Service was ok.. Food was absolutely disgusting the roast potatoes very fatty like eating oil no green vegetables I had beef there was more fat than there was beef AND pudding Eton mess no ice cream half a small strawberry and one piece of meringue. Will never eat in there again and discourage anybody that wants to

User

Bad serve, dirty table on top and under with food all over the carpet. The server cutting the meat was rude, didnt make eye contact, meat was paper think, very was very hard, graze was tasteless and greasy. I had the kingsize and the server give me less meat than the person a head of me who had normal sizes. He threw a sausage on my plate, which nearly full off. I did company but the waiting manage just told the server to rest. Never be using this once great Toby again. Such a shame as its so close to home. Disappointed a understatement
