About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Roborough, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Plymouth's favourite carvery restaurant.

Went to the toby yesterday with my daughter, grandaughter, grandson & future grandson-in-law and had a fabulous carvery... From the cheif (whom i tryed to get to pop round on sundays to cut my meat joints, & make my yorkies) to the table staff & bar staff were brilliant... The beef gravy, the roast potatoes & the yorkies were to die for... If i had to give a negitive the only thing missing was green beans... But everything was spot on... Well done toby 10/10 from me. X

Wonderfull night Thanx so much

I'll recommend to everyone

User

Lovely carvery. Very friendly staff.

Arrived at quarter to nine in evening.

Good selection on carvery. Plus lovely dessert.

Lovely end to Mother's Day weekend and celebrating partners new job. Thank you.

I don't normally leave reviews but I have to say, having been to numerous other Toby carveries I'm blown away by the service and quality of food at this one. Despite being constantly rushed off his feet, the manager dan couldn't have made us more welcome and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter is autistic and I always feel u comfortable in restaurants but not here, I can't recommend the place enough. Food was piping hot and delicious. Would recommend.

User

Great service great value and best of all a great roast intact one of the best Toby Carvery I have been too meat was cooked perfectly and the veg was just delicious. Well worth a visit

User

Excellent value for money. Very busy as you would expect but waitress was courteous and did all she could to ensure we enjoyed our meal. Refillable soft drinks good for kids too.

User

Amazing food amazing quality and such a warm welcoming place to go eat and chat, loved it and will b going again

User

We had the pleasure of having dinner here tonight. We expected mediocre service and food. What a pleasant suprise! The food was much better compared to other Toby Carveries, and the service warm and accommodating! The chef carving the meats was friendly and actually smiled when serving customers! Bradley, who met us at the door, was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for him. Carly, our waitress, was patient and friendly - an absolute pleasure! My grandaughter suffers with allergies and Carly patiently went out of her way to answer our questions and ensure that her food was free of various ingredients. Could I suggest to other Toby Carveries, that you get on your knees and beg Carly and Bradley to train your staff in customer service? Well done Roborough!

User

Took my daughter here for a birthday meal(carvery). The food was very nice but not a lot of choice of vegetables. My daughter had a meat free carvery but was charged for an ordinary one, until my daughter noticed this on the bill,it was corrected immediately once pointed out to a member of staff.Pleasant atmosphere and did not feel rushed to eat and get out.We were given a choice of where to sit.

User

Been to the toby 100s of times ..mostly it does what it says on the tin .value for money .some times the meat can be a bit thin .but this seems to be addressed or i ask the server for a wee bit more .. friendly staff . .when i have had a problem .the manager or staff have been more than happy to help .seasonal veg choice can be improved at times .but in general very nice .spuds to die for .yorkies spanking .all in all enjoy the carvery .and when i order a pot of tea its always nice and hot .i take my 80 year old parents there and they enjoy it .keep up the good work .

Put there beer prices up again will have to go somewhere else if they keep doing it, as they did last season I think they are deliberately aim at the football οΏ½ fans.

It was 2.30pm quiet but still had to wait for a member of staff to come and see us to our seat ( 2 members of staff walked past us , but never said to us they would get somebody for us !!!) we got to our table and said I was waiting for two other members , she said that's ok not a problem , we had to ask for some knives as there was only forks on the table !! We then waited for our other parties and then realised we needed another table as we had another person who joined us , this wasn't a problem , I told the lady who was serving us that I had a groupon for two of the group and was told that wouldn't be a problem, we had our meal , wasn't overly hot but we were all hungry and just decided to eat , once we finished the waitress came rather quickly with our bill and I said that we had paid for two as I had a groupon voucher and was looked at in a way of annoyance because now she had to change it and I was made to feel like a naughty school girl , and then was told I should have told them before , so when I did say I did she then asked who to , didn't know the name , so she went off to try and sort out the groupon , that took over 10 mins with my phone in her had as they didn't know how to process , so all in all a bad experience had by all , thank you for making my family reunion a upsetting one

User

2 stars because the breakfast was pretty tasty. But only 2 stars because the service was shocking. I'm not sure what training the lady with short, curly ginger hair has had but I was literally left speechless. I actually thought Ant & Dec were going to pop out at any moment because it was all a stitch up?! As a customer I don't expect to be barked at. She has zero customer service skills & I would be worried if I were management that she was representing my brand.

User

What a disappointment! Mum chose to come here again, but after a half hour wait our meal came! Ordinary sliced bread, lacking in pork and full of stuffing! No apple sauce, so we grabbed saucers and fetched some ourselves! Had to ask twice for the jugs of gravy, and one of my potatoes was bad!!! We won’t bother again!! And yes - I asked for my money back! xxx οΏ½

The pub is ancient needs a good clean out and also the locals treat it like a doss house very poor service and total disgrace to humanity. Compliments to the young barman who was overworked and underpaid. Overall the pint went down nice not like the pub or people in it.....

Too many people coughing and the toilets stink and no consideration for Jewish customers

User

Terrible!

Went here today and the beef was all fat and had a long bit of string in the beef.

The potatoes was rock hard.

Although there was a nice young lady who was very apologetic and spoke to the manager who took one of the Carvary off the bill.

Would not recommend or return again!!

User

Sadly our monthly trip on a Thursday ( 18th May '17 ) for a carvery and quiz was totally ruined because it had been decided without prior warning that we could no longer have a meal in the bar area ( something we've done for the past 3 Years ) We then had to wait 40 minutes for a table. Turkey ran out and beef was not up to usual standard neither were the vegetables. I had recommended the George to my son and his fiancΓ©e who also attended the same evening, they left leaving most of their meal. When asking the older girl at the bar if this was going to be the norm from now on her attitude left a lot to be desired. The ONLY thing that made the evening bearable was the ever friendly, lovely smiley, nothing is too much trouble Bryony, she is a credit to your establishment.

User

Never a good sign when you leave a restaurant feeling like you have been robbed....Β£18.60 for a two person roast (main course only).

Said roast came with bullet hard uncooked sprouts, peas and cauliflower in a watery cheeseless sauce, 'old' tasting potatoes, smallish slithers of meat and crackling that was harder than steel but oozed foul tasting oil into your mouth when you attempted to crack your teeth biting into it.

Really not happy customers and quite frankly I will make damned sure I do not make the rookie mistake of coming back!

User

Greasy junk food for 'fatties'!

"Can I have the blandest thing on the menu, please?"

Puny vegetarian peanut nut roast. Obviously bought from cater foods and quickly heated.

Vegetables very greasy, unimaginative and boiled and sapped of every drop of flavour and nutrition.

View of Southway. A sprawling manky housing estate or a road junction and park and ride.

Greasy, nasty, fatty and disgusting!
