This afternon I visited Poolsbrook Primary Academy where an open day was being held to help local residents access a range of services. Always a pleasure to work with our Mayor, Gordon Simmonds.

I also met fairandfunkyfunky who work with schools to put used plastics to artistic use.

It was also a great pleasure to meet this year’s children of #Chernobyl at the Cooperative event this morning, who visit #Chesterfield every year as part of excellent Chesterfield Children’s lifeline Charity.

Following concerns raised by staff and parents at Hasland Hall Community School, and the recent strike action, I have booked a room in the Hasland Methodist Church for a series of confidential meetings with anyone that would like to discuss their recent experiences of Hasland Hall School. If any parents, staff or governors would like to speak to me, they should call my office on 01246 386 286 to arrange an appointment.
The special appointment-based surgery will be at Hasland ...Methodist Church on Friday 19th July from 11am to 2pm. If you are unable to make it on Friday, I will be arranging further appointments at a later date.

I had a great morning at Poolsbrook for Staveley #armedforcesday on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who organised it, all those who attended and everyone who has served in our Armed Forces for their service.

Spoke at the latest Unite the Union protest at Ashgate Rd offices of DXC Technology where as many as 270 staff may be under threat of redundancy.

Great to do Q&A with these bright buttons from Hollingwood Primary School The visit was arranged after Y3s,4s &5s wrote to me about their priorities for the environment.
I reckon some will become Chesterfield Borough Council Climate youth ambassadors.

My speech in support of workers at another protest against the planned redundancies at DXC Technology.
I am very concerned about the loss of these highly-skilled jobs in Chesterfield and the potential impact on the public contracts DXC has with organisations such as the NHS, Metropolitan Police, Passport Office and the DWP.

I challenged the Government today regarding Legal Aid rules that mean many people fleeing domestic violence and living in a refuge are not eligible for funding as the refuge is deemed to be their second home.

I can confirm that I have informed The Labour Party that I wish to continue to be the Labour Party candidate for #Chesterfield at the next election. Representing my town and my party has been a huge honour & I'll continue to do it to the best of my ability as long as voters want me to.

Great to have Activity Alliance National Athletics Finals in #Derbyshire There was some inspiring and impressive performances from athletes of all abilities.

I attended the Highways England ⁦Parliamentary surgery to enlist support for ⁦Midlands Connect⁩ proposals for the Staveley by-pass, and A61 improvements. They were supportive and seemed to recognise the benefits to the flow of the M1.

I have written to the Secretary of State for Transport to support Staveley by pass proposal that is one of Midlands Conect's Transport priorities. I will also be backing plans for A61 improvements to traffic flow.
