Top Tips for teeth! 1. Brush your teeth last thing at night and at least one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste. (Spit out after brushing and do not rinse, so that the fluoride stays on your teeth longer). 2.After eating, wait for one hour before brushing your teeth. ( Some foods and drinks can make tooth enamel soft,so try not to brush straight after eating,or you could damage this protective coating). 3.Use dental floss or interdental brushes to clean bet...ween your teeth at least once a day. (Only 21% of people clean between their teeth regularly). 4. Change your toothbrush every 3months. (Only 22%of people xchange their toothbrush every 3 months). 5. Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks between meals. (It's not how much you have, but how often you have it. To help your teeth to fight against decay, try to keep sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes and only have one snack a day). 5. Drink water, eat cheese, or chew sufgar free gum after meals. (Water rinses sugar and acid away. Cheese helps to neutralise acid and chewing sugar free gum helps to clean the mouth). 6.Visit your dentist regularly,as often as they recommend. (It is important that you have dental checkups to keep your mouth healty). 7.Be mouth aware. (Check your own mouth regularly and visit your dentist if you notice any changes, such as lumps, red and white patches or mouth ulcers which do not heal in 3 weeks).

Really fun facts: 1. The enamel on the top surface on your tooth is the hardest part of your entire body. 2.Your mouth produces over 5000 gallons of saliva in a lifetime - that's enough to fill 78 bathtubs. 3. No two people have the same set of teeth - your teeth are unique as your fingerprint,so be proud of your unique set of teeth. 4.Teeth start to form even before you are born - milk teeth or baby teeth start to form when the baby is in the womb, but they come through when... the child is between 6-12 months old. 5. Go Sugar free: 1. If you have a sweet tooth, try to choose sugar free sweets and drinks which contain xylitol, sorbitol or another type of sweetener. 2. By adding sweeteners, sugar free treats taste the same as those with sugar, but without the risk of causing tooth decay. 3. Sugar free foods and drinks can help protect your teeth and gums in between meals. 4. Look out for the Oral Health Foundation's 'Approved' logo, which can be seen on many sugar-free foods.... 5. Try PoloⓇ Sugar Free mints in between meals to help neutralise harmful acids in the mouth.

Diet and our oral health 1.Every time we eat or drink anything sugary, our teeth come under and acid attack for up to onehour. 2. Reduce the amount of sugary foods and drinks you have. Try avoiding snacks and keeping sugar consumption to mealtimes. 3.Wait and hour after eating or drinking anything before brushing your teeth. 4.A varied diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals and fresh fruit and vegetables can help to prevent gum disease.... 5.Finishing a meal with a cube of cheese is a great, and tasty, way to reduce the effect of acids from the foods damaging your teeth.

Children's oral health: 1. Take your child to the dentist early,as soon as possible. This will help them get used to the sights, sounds and smells of a dental practice. 2. When the first teeth start to appear, try using a toothbrush design for children, with a small smear of fluoride toothpaste. 3.A child's tooth brushing should be supervised until they are about 7 years old. 4. Use a timer or brush a long to a song to ensure your children are brushing for the correct amount of ...time. 5.Use a reward chart to track your children's brushing habits and get them actively involved in brushing their teeth
