Understanding Autism e-learning course:
Devon Transforming Care in partnership with Devon Partnership Trust have developed this free e-learning on Understanding Autism. The course has been prepared by staff from the local specialist team for autism in collaboration with people who have autism. It aims to provide an awareness and understanding of what autism is, how it is experienced by individuals and by those who support them. The course should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

To thank those family members and friends who support someone with a disability or long-term condition, mental health or drug/alcohol issue, cancer, or visual / hearing loss, Torbay + South Devon NHS Foundation Trust organised a number of events for unpaid Carers across the Bay to coincide with Carers’ Week. The events ranged from cream teas and trips, to mindfulness and relaxation and much more, such as the foot treatment shown in the picture of Jill Holmes, an unpaid Carer,... receiving treatment from Kerry Evans at The Friends Centre in Brixham on Tuesday 11th June.
There were also a number of stands across the Bay to let people know about the services and support that are available to them – at The Friends’ Centre in Brixham, Paignton library, Paignton shopping precinct, Sainsbury’s at the Willows, and at the main entrance and outpatients’ entrance of Torbay Hospital. People can also ring Signposts on 01803 66 66 20, signposts@nhs.net or www.tsdft.uk/carers
Katy Heard, Carers lead said ‘Over 17,000 people in Torbay care for a family member or a friend, often 24/7, and often without much additional support. During Carers Week, we just wanted to show our appreciation for everything they do, and give them a short break from their caring role. We also need to raise awareness with the people who do not realise all the support that is available including back-up plans, health and wellbeing checks, 1to1 support and much more’
