Torquay Marina Description

Torquay Marina is in the north-east corner of Torbay and sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly winds, so it’s a safe haven for boats in all weathers. With modern facilities and superb bluewater cruising, it's popular with yachtsmen from home and overseas.

There are various marine tenants on site providing chandlery, boat brokerage and new boat sales. Basic provisions are available from the dock office and there is a restaurant and café, perfect for when you've worked up an appetite on the water.

Out and about.
Torbay itself offers many lovely anchorages, with plenty of coves and beaches to explore. For more information about where to and where not to anchor, please visit http://tiny. cc /torbayanchorages

Heading south brings you to the picturesque fishing village of Brixham, where we also have a marina, and where there are many fine restaurants.

Head further west and explore the sheltered River Dart. Beyond Start Point is the beautiful Salcombe Estuary with spectacular 400 foot cliffs at Bolt Head. The marina is also conveniently situated for crossing the Channel to Brittany, Normandy and the Channel Islands, ideal for a weekend away.

THANK YOU for NOT feeding seals! Please don't let Box Desk SUFFER in vain. SHARE WIDELY PLEASE so everyone understands why we need to practice TOUGH LOVE and NEVER feed seals.
We all need to learn from Box desk's painful propeller sliced wounds that almost cut her tail off. Box desk is still suffering from open wounds that resulted from people feeding her in St Ives Harbour last summer.
... 'Food for thought' tells all about why we need to STOP FEEDING SEALS and practice TOUGH LOVE to help these precious marine creatures that are so well loved by the public - locals and visitors alike, bringing in much needed revenue to local businesses.

Wearing a lifejacket could save your life. 13 people, who drowned in 2017, might be alive today had they been wearing a lifejacket or buoyancy aid.
These are the sad findings of this year’s Casualty Review Panel. The panel meets annually to discuss the previous year’s appropriate maritime fatalities and whether those who died might have survived had they been wearing a lifejacket. Wearing a lifejacket or buoyancy aid appropriate to your activity greatly improves your chances... of surviving the shock of entering cold water. The panel also advise on other measures which might increase survivability. This year they looked at 27 fatalities and of these 13 might have been saved had they been wearing a lifejacket.
People who have been drinking alcohol are more likely to be involved in a fatal accident. In 2017 14 of the 27 fatalities had been drinking – accessing boats in harbour was a particular issue. Over recent years many harbours have introduced lifejacket lockers so people using tenders can store lifejackets securely while they are ashore, and the panel strongly recommended that boat users consider using them.
Carrying a means of raising the alarm and knowing how and when to use it is vital in an emergency, making a real difference in survivability rates. In 2017, two people’s lives might have been saved had they been carrying a means of communication, to tell the Coastguard where to search. In particular the panel recommended
Carrying a vhf DSC radio and knowing how to use it to contact the Coastguard or other vessels
Carrying a PLB or EPIRB will help rescuers to locate you and even if you’re unconscious the alarm will be raised.
Downloading the Royal Yachting Association SafeTrx app on your phone and using it in an emergency could make all the difference.

We caught the boat to Dartmouth yesterday, fantastic day we had all the family enjoyed it. On our way back from Dartmouth heading towards Berry head we noticed some Dolphins, then loads more appeared it was beautiful to see in there natural habitat a wonderful seight to see.

Also the Captain had fantastic commentary and kept us entertained and the crew where brilliant too. The marina is a lovely place very clean and plenty to do there, further down the marina there is some lovely places to eat. We always love Torquay x
