Trade Fairly Description
I have been helping with a GREAT charity in The Gambia called WaterforAfrica and they provide clean water using bore-holes . . The extra difference though is that the charity supports and maintains these water sources . . We do 'sell' these bore holes at a nominal price to the villages and also ask for a nominal maintenance fee . . These have to be nominal as average wages are circa £50 per month . . Trade Fairly is designed to enable craftspeople to work for their new water source. We do this by paying a good level of wages for the production and plough back any profits into providing water sources for their communities . . We expect the 'profit' margin to be about 20% .
