Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is the fastest growing sport in the industry. The sport combines the skills of the participants with the ability to stand on the board using a paddle to propel themselves. This activity takes some practice and is great for developing balance but also develops the participants resilience.

Had a brilliant time here with husband and kids trying out stand up paddle boarding for my birthday treat. It was brilliant fun for all of us as we SUP'ed and kayaked around the lake. We will definitely go again. Staff were fantastic - really friendly and helpful. Great to have this on our doorstep

We bought the £12 pass for the water sports day on Saturday. The actual water activities were great and the staff on the waterside were try to help all the people but there was no organisation. There needed to be separate queuing areas for the kayak, canoes, rowing boats, catamarans or paddle boarding.

It was a bit of a free for all with parents trying to organise who was next for what and helping kids in and out of crafts. A couple of times the helpers got stick from parents who had been told to do one thing by one helper then que somewhere else by another.

It could have been organised so much better. Number tickets could have been given for each activity you queued for. Each activity was supposed to last for 10 mins, but we were queuing for paddle boards for 55 mins, and there were only 2 sets of people before us, the first set of people were out for 40 mins and despite asking regularly for them to be shouted in, they weren't. It wouldn't take much to have timers and a radio to the safety boat to ask for people to come to shore. Shame there wasn't any affordable food and drinks available. The restaurant was open but we weren't dressed for that or want to pay those prices.

More organisation required! More equipment required! We bought the £12 pass, which is essence is good value for money - however we queued for almost 55 minutes for paddle boards as the people out on the water wouldn't return the equipment. Our kids were also given rowing boat oars to use as there weren't sufficient paddle board oars. Woefully understaffed with little organisation. Having said that - they were very polite. Massive opportunity missed with no reasonably priced refreshments or food ( not really dressed for the restaurant with soggy, stinky kids!) Overall- a great concept - but poorly executed.

The lake is lovely. The changing rooms and showers are disgusting. They need to be cleaned more often, or possibly ever.

User

Slight improvement from last year but still terrible changing facilities. Drains often blocked but better than last year. I can’t remember the last time I came here and there was toilet paper and soap! Shower curtains changed from last year and mildly cleaner but that’s it. The changing facilities need a complete refit. Look at the difference at Helly Hansen Watersports Centre in Salford Quays. Much much nicer facilities, always spotless.
