"I chose to learn with Exeter Driver Training as I was impressed by their ethic and approach to developing safe drivers. Kevin promptly returned my call and I found him to be very polite and helpful. He put me in contact with his business partner whose support I feel I would never have passed my test without.
Friendly, warm and approachable, Christie always greeted me with a smile and she very quickly made me feel at ease. At 32 I was perhaps more nervous about driving than I was as a teenager but Christies calm and positive nature made me feel comfortable and relaxed every lesson.
I was always treated as an individual with a personalised plan that Christie would update and discuss with me at the end of each lesson. She always asked where I felt I needed to build more experience and confidence alongside giving her professional opinion. We would then work on these areas with Christie offering me practical advice and guidance but allowing me enough freedom to develop my own confidence in becoming a safe, independent driver. She always discussed my strengths and commented on the things I was good at which I found encouraging and reassuring.
If there was something I was unsure about we would discuss this and Christie would adapt her teaching style to suit me as an individual, explaining things in a different way if necessary. I feel this is really important as not everyone learns the same and Christie shows genuine care for her students as a person.
I was allowed to progress at my own pace with Christie encouraging and guiding me to improve every lesson so it didn’t cost me more than was needed. The pricing is very competitive, fair and worth every penny. She was always reliable, never late and fit my lessons around my schedule.
I now feel like a confident, independent and most essentially safe driver, which is really important for me, especially being the mother of a young child.
I would recommend Exeter Driver Training to anyone that wants the highest level of teaching quality and customer service from a great local business that genuinely cares about its students as individuals. I couldn’t have hoped for a better instructor. I passed my test first time with only 2 minors because of her commitment and enthusiasm.

Deana had a couple of lessons booked with us by her partner. She took these with our instructor Kevin Sellwood and after she sent us this review: “The lessons were booked by my partner and she wanted someone local and recommended by others. What we really liked was the little portfolio of each instructor on the website so you felt they weren’t strangers when they came to pick you up. The lessons were for parallel parking as I’d never been taught this years ago. It was a very ...different experience to how I was taught 31 years ago as you are no longer instructed but encouraged to think for yourself, i.e. if you think you did it well, you are asked what was good about it or, if it wasn’t so good, then why didn’t it go so well, what could you do differently to correct it? I found the whole thing really useful as I was able to work out what I was doing incorrectly. E.g. turning too quickly, not going back far enough etc, and then correct myself. This will enable me to parallel park by myself in the future and give me the confidence to try more often as I now have the tools enabling me to perform the manoeuvre and correct any mistakes. The whole thing was a very enjoyable experience. Kevin is friendly, approachable and, by giving me the confidence to perform the manoeuvre I now believe in myself and I can actually parallel park after all these years. Thank you so much for helping me gain confidence and self belief in my ability.”

Deana was given a voucher by her partner for a couple of lessons. Although she drives a 14 ton lorry for work, Deana had never been very confident about parallel parking. She had two sessions with instructor Kevin Sellwood. On the first one we stayed fairly local to Honiton and covered the basics of parking. The second session, 2 weeks later on December 21st, after Deana had been practicing in the meantime, we went in to Exeter and did some general driving and also found some... places where it was a bit more pressurised with other vehicles around. I have to say Deana nailed this and coped incredibly well with other drivers. It was great to see her gaining in confidence about doing this and also realising that, when you take it slowly, you don't take very long and is also gives you time to adjust when it's not quite right. Deana and I had a good laugh in the two sessions as well - she's as mad as a box of frogs which might explain why we got on so well!
