*call for musicians or groups* who would like to perform a short set at a roadblock street meet on Saturday 30th March in Tower Hamlets, it's a community protest event to talk about air pollution (hence blocking a polluting road) and climate emergency. As a teenager, I (Katherine Pollard) had the privilege of playing in Merton Music Foundation bands with the inspirational percussionist John Merriman (amongst other legends!). It was always a laugh at the back of the band - very fond memories!
One day TSMB were hoping to do some recording at John's Crown Lane Studio - we still hope to. Plans have been put on hold though, not least because John's wife & business partner at the studio Ruth Merriman became very ill with non-Hodgkins lymphoma last summer.
Ruth tragically passed away last weekend. Please take a minute to read John's story about the record he's releasing in her memory. All proceeds go to a fantastic charity & he has just managed to raise £10000 for them in less than 36 hours!! So proud & privileged to know this guy xxx
