Trash 'N' Treasure Sunday Market

A vintage, retro, Sunday market, held four times a year at 'The Old Courts' in Wigan town centre.

TRASH ‘N’TREASURE Sunday Market is just one aspect of community-driven activities based at this town-centre location, The Old Courts.
This now defunct, yet wonderfully charming civil building is being put to use as a creative arts and enterprise hub offering space, services, resources, events, education and support, centred around creativity for individuals and small businesses.

Concept
The idea behind ‘Trash ‘n’ Treasure’ is to pull together a diverse cross-section of sellers who share a common thread. Vintage fashion (both women’s and men’s) , 50’s /60’s /70’s furniture, Collectable toys, records, film memorabilia, comics culture, retro computer gaming, art , jewellery and cool bric-a-brac.

It is a bold move to mix these different ‘genres’ together in one marketplace but we sense a broad, crossover appeal to the customer who would attend this kind of event.

The majority of ‘Vintage Fairs’ here in the UK are very much aimed at women. We are trying to moderately redress the balance and aim to give the many men that attend these fairs with their wives and girlfriends, something they might like to buy too. As far as I’m aware we are unique with this concept in the UK and hope this approach will be a breath of fresh air on the UK Vintage Fair scene.

Not to be mistaken for a ‘car boot’ sale, although many of the items will have been sourced from charity shops and car boot sales. Talented folks with an good eye for a desirable item at a bargain price, have spent years trawling the various local outlets, at ungodly hours, in all weathers. . . to bring you the diamonds in the rough!

Not just amazing, original, vintage finds. . . we also have the cream of the town’s independent craft makers, producing their own reproduction clothing, refurbishing old furniture and hand-making their own lines of jewellery, ornaments, baked goods and trinkets.

We plan to hold 4 events per year (every 3 months) Hopefully building up to pulling in both sellers and buyers from outside of the Wigan Borough.
