Something to whet your appetite for next year. We are heading off in September to climb Nevada Pisco in the Cordillera Blanca region of Peru. This trip will be our first to this region to climb a mountain that has some superb views encompassing many of the other well known mountains of the Cordillera Blanca, such as Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Artesonraju, and Alpamayo. Just back from another amazing weekend in Snowdon despite the biblical wind and rain. One thing that really stood out from our day’s on the mountain was the erosion of the trails generally caused by day hikers/runners not staying on the defined routes and paths. This was mostly highlighted during our ascent of Ygan and Snowdon via the Ranger path where huge gullies are being produced each side of the established path. There is really no need for this especially as lots of har...d work is being done by the Snowdonia National Park Staff to lay large pieces of stone and gravel to aid you on your walk to keep us safe so let’s stay on them... I’m as much to blame as the next person, I was walking along with our guide Jamie who was actually highlighting the issue when I found myself walking next to him and therefore off the path so it’s easily done. So if you’re wondering why we have to pay for parking around Snowdon and other areas of Snowdonia, it’s to pay for all the damage we’re creating so let’s stay on the paths everyone 👍
