Trout Hotel

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Lovely food and surroundings to enjoy a special birthday treat.

I always remember The Trout doing good food but when I took my friends tonight it was really outstanding. A mix of traditional and more unusual options. The portions were big and I'm only disappointed we didn't have enough room for pudding! Between the three of us we had a mix of dishes and there wasn't a weak link. The staff were also lovely and the wine I had was delicious. My friends are also planning a repeat trip to try more of the menu when they return to the area!

Fabulous afternoon at Taste Fare Cumbria. Wonderful atmosphere in the Trout Hotel; champagne and Peroni bar a huge hit. Say outside and were entertained by a great singer. This hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Lovely location with comfortable, clean rooms, good facilties and a very good restaurant. Loses a star because we ended up seated (along with other couples looking for a bit of romance) near a noisy group who could have easily been in their own part of the restaurant. I now know more about their family life than I do my own. Also I would say 'Dogs allowed' more than 'Dogs welcome' here.

Traditional style hotel. Staff very friendly, just too expensive £10 for 2 lattes. OK you do get a very nice shortbread biscuit with it, but seriously when did we allow ourselves to pay this for coffee. More early evening deals would encourage me to visit more often. Also more choice for veggies on a daily specials board (not fish, that doesn't count)

I took my Man for afternoon tea. Absolutely fabulous. Brilliant service and wonderful food, served I beautiful settings.

I was traveling alone with work and they were so friendly. I will book again. The food was also amazing. Thank you for looking me.

Special anniversary long weekend - totally pampered!! Luxurious room, delicious food and best of all served with warmth and a smile. Our pooch is welcome and we're never downgraded because of her! We have always loved our stays here and our latest stay is every bit as good as our first. We will be back 😊
