Troutbeck Head Club Site Description

Troutbeck Head Caravan Club Site in Penrith is set in classically beautiful North Lakeland countryside, and is conveniently only 4 miles from the restaurants and shops of Ullswater. A fabulous getaway for nature lovers and walkers, the caravan park nestles in a picturesque valley alongside a babbling brook.

Situated below the Great Mell Fell and with spectacular views of Blencathra to the west, Troutbeck Head Caravan Club Site gives you access to some of the prettiest walks in the country. For superb views of the central mountains, a drive over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass is not to be missed. This will lead you to Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere, where you can sample the local restaurants and explore some of Wordsworth's favourite haunts. A lake cruise on Ullswater is a must, with the option of a scenic walk between Howtown and Glenridding (only 7 miles away). For the energetic, the Rookin House Farm Centre next door to the caravan site offers plenty of fun activities - quad bikes, archery, go-karting, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and much more.

Soak in the atmosphere at Acorn Bank where the winter weekends are quaint and magical. A personal gift from Father Christmas and a trip to find the fairies in the woodland are perfect for the little ones. Followed by a hot punch and shortbread in the dining room. - http://bit.ly/2hbptEu

What a lovely quiet site surrounded by stunning fells. First time but certainly will not be our last, friendly and very helpful wardens. Perfectly situated for Penrith Ullswater and Keswick, a walkers paradise.x

We arrived here on Saturday 13th of August was supposed to be leaving Thursday, but stayed till Friday! We have absolutely loved it. We we're a little concerned over the size of the site before we went, but as soon as we got there the concern went, the areas are all set out in different parts, which made it feel a lot smaller, the pitches were a really good size, we stayed on a serviced pitch and they are brilliant very spacious and all very clean. Easy access to the shower blocks, which were very well looked after and extremely clean and tidy:) and a really good dog walking area that we used every day. The people who run the place are all very helpful and couldn't do enough for you(even walked up behind when we arrived and just pushed our caravan into place for us, not needed but after a long drive and 2 dogs winging it was very much appreciated. The park itself was beautiful very very clean very well looked after and so peaceful, it was a pleasure to be able to stay there, we will definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a lovely relaxing week.

This is our third visit to this site and we absolutely love it, especially since it’s been refurbished. Everything smells so lovely and new, and is spotless, as is usual with CC sites.

Nice wardens and they keep the site looking beautiful. They have a well stocked shop if you run out of anything and do some nice fresh buns. There’s a fish and chip wagon on Tuesdays and Fridays, although we haven’t used it this time, but last year we did, and the food was exceptional.

The Troutbeck Inn up the road is fantastic for food. We’ve been there a few times for venting meals and the food is superb, with the added bonus that they have a dog friendly room, which gets packed VERY quickly, so advisable to book.

The dog walk is very good. Our dog loves the water and he’s found a lovely deep part of the beck as you go up the hill, that he can have a good swim in. We do have a bit of a job getting him out of it!!!

This is the only site in the Lake District we’ve ever used and we will be coming back year upon year.

Have just returned from a weekend stay at the site. Although the weather was not as favourable as we would have hoped for but this did not spoil our weekend on a spotlessly clean site and facilities were immaculate also. The site staff were also friendly and helpful too. Will be returning to the site again.

User

Had a lovely late October weekend here with my wife and two sons. The site is very well organised and relaxed. The facilities are spotlessly clean and have a plentiful supply of hot water. As it was close to Halloween the wardens arranged a party for the children and also trick or treat around the caravans which was a nice touch.

User

Had a fantastic week. Great site, great and friendly staff, ideal location for the northern lakes

User

Fab site, lovely location, hot showers with underfloor heating - just the ticket for biking weekend at Whinlatter!

User

Best kept site for miles, and far enough from Keswick to keep the kids from breaking the bank
