I was personally frustrated with online dating. Even when I matched with guys, conversation rarely got off the ground and quickly dried up. The matches that the algorithms came up with were so infrequently my type and at times completely baffling. When I went on the first dates I was often disappointed and I wished there could have been more of a pre-vetting process. Being a picky individual with a specific type, I wished there could have been a wing woman or wing man introdu...cing me to eligible bachelors. After sharing this with my friends and then my wider network through them, I discovered I wasn’t alone and this frustration was felt by many, many others.
To take a step towards solving this problem, I have created a personal matchmaking service called Truffle together with my co-founder Amy Holdsworth. Doing it the old fashioned way - bringing back the ‘Marriage Buero’ of the 1930s.
Upmarket matchmakers do exist today, but they are out of reach for most. Then we have the mass market dating platforms and the swiping apps.
We’re bang in the middle, offering an offline matchmaking service to the mid market. We introduce our clients to selected matches that fit with what they are looking for. We meet all clients and matches in person before introducing them to each other.
