In the UK today there are in excess of 1. 4 million equines with more than 80% owned and cared for by private households. Of these, more than 90% are stabled in private (non-livery) accommodation. As a result, there are a significant number of owners faced with the dilemma of arranging temporary care for their horse during periods of time when they are unable to meet their horse’s needs.
Since owners need to feel completely comfortable with the person employed to temporarily care for their horse, identifying suitable care can be a stressful experience.
