Not seen on the racecourse since October 18 as a result of a 50% tendon tear in a front leg found just over a year ago. Lengthy spells of box isolation, paddock isolation and then twice daily on the walker. In past month he has been out walking every day and we plan to start cantering sometime this month.The leg feels good so all 🤞🤞 for the future.

***RIP*** It is with great sadness to write this note. Paul Townend passed away in hospital yesterday morning from this horrible virus, Covid-19. My heart goes out to Geraldine and her family. For those of you who knew Paul will remember his passion for racing, Royal Ascot week being his favourite. Paul had become a good friend to my family and all my team, with their regular visits to the yard, he always made time for everybody he met. They had a huge amount of pleasure and ...success last season following their horse Surrey Thunder around the UK and Europe, and were looking forward to this season with their horses Surrey Pride and Surrey Flame. Two weeks ago we let you know that the 4yo Surrey Thunder was soon having his first run for his new Australian owners. His debut for trainer Chris Waller, best known for training champion mare Winx, was this morning in a 3yo+ 7F handicap at Rosehill on soft ground, with £60,000 prize money.This being the shortest trip he has ever raced over.Thunder finished 4th of 8 runners at 6/1 odds, 2 1/4 lengths behind the winner.
