‘After 10 years of drug use, I decided I wanted to change my life. I was put in touch with Turning Point and my recovery worker asked if I wanted to do some training at Turning Point’s Socialicious café. I started training in July 2018 and I’ve been clean ever since.’

‘At 42 I was browbeaten by depression and my life was on a gradual decline. My drinking increased to unmanageable levels so my GP referred me to Turning Point. Large sections of this time I simply can’t remember but after six and a half months my mental and physical health was radically improved.’

‘A service user and myself created the banner for the Recovery Walk, which was held high by Wakefield and Castleford clients, proudly celebrating our recovery. I’ve taken part in Poetry Days, Eating on a Budget events, completed First Aid Training and been on a day trip to York. All these opportunities have been possible because I put the drink down and picked up my recovery and Peer Mentoring.’

‘I was unsure at first, but I have not looked back. I’ve gained my self-respect back and realised I wasn’t the only one who had problems. It helped me get my family back – and of course this helped me to stay alcohol free.’

We had a fantastic time at our first Inspired by Possibility Recognition Scheme celebration event in Birmingham last week. A group of people we support from all areas of our work – substance misuse, mental health and learning disability – were selected from over 150 nominations to join us in recognising the fantastic progress they have made in their lives.

I have been with turning point for 3 years now. And I can it's one of the best company's I have worked for. I have already gone up the management ladder and as someone who thrives on responsibility and getting things done at a high standard it's great. I have loads of support if I needed it from upper managers. And I look forward to the challengers ahead. I am so passionate about care so it great to work for a company who have that same value and drive for care I have

User

Turfed me out at the height of treatment which has led to untold stress Ipswich turning point is run like a prison and I strongly recommend using any alternative if you have one possible I have sent forward a complaint I hope to take this further and redeem myself in a court of justice they have banned me for an accusation for which I did not do with no chance of defending myself at the height of treatment I just hope the pain stops one day soon and I am heard in a just way bound to law and civility

If you're in Nottingham and need mental health support, do not use turning point!

I am due my first CBT appointment today after braving the waiting list.

My first impression of the person I saw from turning point was awful. She came out 10 minutes after my assessment appointment time and loudly asked the receptionist if she could cancel her next appointment in front of me. The cancelling of the appointment itself wasn't such a problem but this handling of it was very poor.

I rearranged the appointment anyway and was put on the waiting list. I made it clear from the start that as I am a student in Nottingham, I would be going home for summer. I received a phone call asking if I would like face to face or online appointments. I asked if I could be kept on the waiting list and have face to face appointments when I return to Nottingham in September. I was told yes.

However, days later, a different person rang me and asked the same question. When I told them what was said, I was told that they can't do that as it would reflect badly on them if they kept me on the waiting list that long and they told me that their colleague had got it wrong. I, reluctantly, opted for online appointments.

A couple of weeks later I was called and offered a face to face appointment at the doctors surgery on my campus. I attended this appointment and it turned out it was just a 10 min chat to see if anything had changed and if I wanted face to face or over the phone appointments (what happened to the online option?! And why wasn't she aware of what I'd already opted for or that I'd already been asked twice before?!). Reluctantly, again, I chose phone this time as I wouldn't be in Nottingham.

I was told I'd receive a confirmation email and that it may contain a postcode of where I'd usually have to go for the appointment. I was told to ignore this as I was definitely booked on the system as a phone appointment.

My phone appointment time is 14.30 today. At 10am I was called by the person my appointment is with and told that the venue I was meant to be meeting her at wasn't booked. Of course it wasn't! I was meant to be on the system for a phone appointment!!

Needless to say, I am feeling very messed about and if it wasn't for my mentor through my university recommending I get CBT, I would have discharged myself by now. The service I've received has been absolutely diabolical and no one that I've spoken to so far seems to know what they are doing or what each other are doing. This is no way to treat any customer especially not someone you know suffers from anxiety.

Disappointed when I started working for LD in Derby. Male admin was rude and unpleasant. Never positive towards staff. Pay is poor and the trained is inconsistent. Team leader for house was always either in office or on mobile phone, never interacted with service users. Rota was always late, so Staff couldn't plan ahead or have social time outside work. Staff don't like changes, even if it benefits the service users. As I was appointed to manage the health and safety for the house. Attempts to implement improvements were declined and also resulted in me being bullyed. No action taken by management for this. This continued as 3 female staff made false allegations against me, no investigation was made and I lost my job as a result of this. Very disappointed with turning point in Derby as I brought NHS experience and knowledge which was ignored. I would NOT recommend this service to anyone.
