Tyneside Badminton Centre Description
The Vision – “To create a home for Badminton in the North East”
Over the last 18 months 4 badminton enthusiasts have been striving hard in pursuit of a shared vision - to create a home for Badminton in the North East. Tyneside Badminton Centre Ltd. has been formed as a ‘NOT FOR PROFIT’, Community Interest Company (CiC) and is here solely to serve the Badminton community, all day, every day and all the year round.
Where we were
With the help of Newcastle City Council, we have identified a building with a 25 year lease which can be adapted and expanded. Located in Slatyford, the building has 3 good courts and excellent ancillary facilities, including reception, changing rooms, cafeteria and on-site parking. We have secured a substantial grant from BADMINTON England, the largest awarded for such a venture. This has been matched by private investment and, supported by Northumberland Badminton Association and Newcastle City Council, we are on the brink of turning the vision into reality.
Where we are now
With all your fantastic support we now have high quality badminton facilities which include 9 badminton courts built to international specification, 3 based in the existing building along with 6 courts in a new hall specifically built for badminton. Also we have a health centre and facilities to host meetings and conferences.

We are open as USUAL throught the Easter Holidays and keeping to our usual opening hours: Good Friday 9am-9pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, Easter Sunday 9am-9pm and Easter Monday 9am-10pm Also all organised sessions (50+/Keenagers, Pay and Play, Sharks & Smashers and Singles) will all be on as normal.
Please note there will be no Smashers or Sharks session on Saturday 2nd March. However for one week only we be replacing this Saturday session with a Sunday 3rd March session:
9.00am to 10.00am Smashers 10.00am to 12noon Sharks
... Please note this is for 1 week only then we will go back to Saturdays.
